Guest guest
hi! just wanted to point out the difference in these two meds. maxair (which also comes in other delivery methods besides the autohaler as a regular inhaler) is a fast acting inhaler. aerobid on the other hand is not. aerobid is a corticosteroid that helps relieve inflammation. it should not be used in emergencies. i use maxair and it works for smaller less severe attacks. i still get some of the same side effects that you would with albuterol and i find little difference in the two (other than if you get the autohaler variety it is much easier to inhale especially if you are new to asthma). however, during more severe attacks, i need to use nebulized medicine. again, which meds you use and how often should be decided between a consultation between you and your doctor. hope this helps!! amy 21 w/cf, asthma, cfrd, and a partridge in a pear tree > >Maxair is pibuterol, somewhat similar in action, but a little more powerful. >It comes in an 'autohaler'. Guest guest
Mine has been pretty much hovering over my yellow zone due to a sinus infection I can't seem to shake. I've eben on 6 courses of antibiotics since November, and it keeps resurfacing, so I'm taking Cipro now for 2 weeks to knock it out cold. I'm praying it stays gone! With the new drainage tho, my asthma is kicking up a lot. My son Gideon has been doing pretty well until today. Normally he has allergy type symptoms and some coughing, and nocturnal SOB. Today after his first hour of gymnastics with a pretreat of albuterol, he got real fussy and angry and uncooperative. I gave him another 2 puffs and wah-la! He was fine again. Tonight tho, when I was putting him to bed, his reps were at 48 and climbing, so I gave him a full amp neb of albuterol- and he went sound to sleep and didn't wake up all night! Most nights he wakes up crying in the middle of the night from what I first thot were nightmares, but the medical concensus is it's probably nocturnal shortness of breath. > How has everyone's asthma been the last two weeks? > Kath
Guest guest
Hi Kath, I have struggled with breathing, working hard to keep my airways open. No surprise to me, for all is budding and blooming outside, spewing pollen, old moldy leaves swirling around in spring storms..Wish I could just stay in a controlled climate, but my love for the outdoors, gardening and planting things get's the better of me and with that comes breathing problems. Guest guest
A little bit tighter for me, but I attribute it to seasonal allergies and on-the-job stress. > How has everyone's asthma been the last two weeks? > Kath > > > > ____________________________________________________ > IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here >
Guest guest
Hi Jan, I just ordered the test from Healthcheck.... so I''ll keep you posted. Question... how did you know (other than the tests) that you needed more T4. How were you feeling before you added it? Sue

Guest guest
For all you folks that are more informed than me... I have a question. I have developed a disturbing symptom since starting my Cytomel. Normally during the day, I eat nothing. I have coffee with cream & sweetener (sugar) and I sip on a huge cup all day, and I am not even hungry. The past 2 days I have had symptoms of low blood sugar. I am getting shaky by 2 PM and eating something sweet relieves it immediately, so I know that's what it is. Suppose this is from the Cytomel? Maybe I am going to have to start eating something in mid-morning... Sorry, breakfast is out! I get ill at the thought of food before 11 AM, and by then I am at work, so I need to plan something I can bring with me for this besides a candy bar... I refuse to undo years of breaking the chocolate habit to soothe my sugar cravings.. Guest guest
Now T, I was the same way forever, about breakfast that is. I can feel (pre-thyroid repair) fairly well if I don't eat. I had been not eating all day for years, because no matter what I ate it just hammered me. Once I ate my day was basically done, nap time. But once you get into the "adrenal stuff", the #1 thing you gotta do is eat regularly. Especially breakfast. Also no coffee and no sugar, (no sheeut). The coffee monkey on my back is the last thing I've gotta give up, down to 2 cups(bucket-size) now. It's like coffee-worship every morning when I partake. The adrenal folks say that getting your thyroid fixed MAKES your adrenal situation become more noticeable. I saw that you were thinking about tackling the adrenal stuff, and I guess since I'm in the "getting used to breakfast" mode right now I think i'd like some "breakfast-miserable company". Guest guest
----Not eating any protein during the day is a no-no. And at regular intervals. No matter how you do it, whether you fix something to take with you, order out, or eat it at home before work, you can't go long hours without eating like that. No wonder you're feeling shaky. T3 can make your blood sugar go up, so therefore, more insulin. Whatever is causing it, you must eat protein, with a balance of veggies, etc.... Guest guest
HMMM I have always been a once a day eater. I have never been a snacker either. I guess I will have to start carrying cottage cheese or string cheese with me to work. Maybe a hard boiled egg or two. Weird, but milk agrees with me even in the morning, and does seem to stave off this to an extent. Have to see how much I can stomach! Guest guest
>>Make a milkshake with Slim fast or yogurt and fruit or something. << BLECHHHHH.... Ptoooie! Yogurt and Slim Fast do not cross these lips! LOL and FRUIT in the AM???? Oh way too explosive & dangerous for me! Have you ever read the ingredients in Slim Fast? It makes me ill just to smell it. Now I know yogurt is good for me, but I can't eat the stuff. It is the only dairy food I can't eat. I will have to stick with eggs, cheese, milk and meat. I am so sensitized to chemicals that too many preservatives make me ill, I think that is why the Slim Fast aversion. Remember I had flea dip poisoning, and it left the sensitivity as an aftermath. Fruit I only eat when I am spending the next 4 hours at home ALONE. LOL Well maybe a banana. I used to eat applesauce, but that was when I had a much slower day grooming and was also having problems with constipation. Are the shaky hands from low blood sugar in the morning with no breakfast how the French Poodle cut started? Sorry, just a joke, I couldn't help it. Guest guest
As far as I know and from what I've been told - Yes. Janie Original message attached. I don't eat slimfast, but I know their bars have none., Does the drink have it? For me they have too much sugar. Re: Question HMMM I have always been a once a day eater. Guest guest
One word of caution about raw eggwhites----they are known to destroy the B6 in your body. I can look for more documentation on that, but this is a fact. Re: Question Broda said you should have a shake made from cream and a raw egg. Yum!!!! Guest guest
On that fast that the quack put me on, since I had chronic diarrhea, they decided to give me the egg white diet. Hmmm! One more reason my folic acid and B's were so low. Raw? It was dried, would that make a difference?>? Re: Question Broda said you should have a shake made from cream and a raw egg. Yum!!!! Guest guest
Hep me Janie, it IS nasty. Re: Re: Question Sorry Ben, but that just sounds nasty. I too wasn't a breakfast eater until TD, but I now eat breakfast daily, it does make a difference. I barely tolerate food in the am, so for me bland is the way to go. My b'fast consists of either 1 boiled egg, 1 slice wheat toast, sm oj and cup of tea (no coffee for me) or for variety - I may scramble the darn egg add some ham & cheese from time to time. Or a small bowl of oatmeal. Nice and bland, but the ol' tummy can handle that just fine in the am. I do eat this 1 hr after my Armour. I won't say my stomach never gets upset, but I wake up with it that way - so these seem to be the only foods I can tolerate that early....JanieOriginal message attached. Guest guest
Ugh I hate to tell you not to eat, but if you are a low-carber (and if you're not this won't matter) watch the milk. Lot more carbs than you think, even in the whole milk. What about yogurt or something? The whole milk yogurt without all the added stuff is pretty yummy if you like that sort of thing. And I think the other ideas you listed below are fabu. :-) Breakfast is the hardest thing for me, too. I can eat, just can't find stuff that I like that is low-carb and won't make me hungry in an hour. -----Original Message-----From: T Sent: Wednesday, September 03, 2003 4:54 PMTo: Texas_Thyroid_Groups Subject: Re: Question HMMM I have always been a once a day eater. Guest guest
If it's cooked, then it makes no difference, but the raw white is the thing. I love pie meringue, but it's a very rare thing in my diet, unless I'm doing the baking. Guest guest
Okay, guys, my choice is a cut of steak (a little more than a little saturated fat), an egg to go with that. I never have cholesterol problems, always about 170, with good cholesterols up, triglycerides down, and bad cholesterol down low. My problem in the diet is the love of bread with that, and pastries later in the day, if I can find them. Also, I NEVER feel like eating after I get up until 4 hrs later. I've gradually trained myself to just pop a bite or two into my mouth within an hr or so after rising, but I can't immagine going without eating altogether for 6-12 hrs. I'd keel over on the job and be vomiting everywhere---and that's no exaggeration!
