Bartram gives a similar list, preceded by the words: (Pronatura, West

Germany). He says its based on a 16th c recipe by Paracelsus - although he

doesn't say what its specific for.

The list is:

Manna, Aloe, Senna leaves, Rhubarb root, Zedoary root, root, Black

snake root, (Cimicifuga to you and me), Valerian, Cinnamon, Myrrh, Carline

Thistle root, Camphor and Saffron. He doesn't give proportions and the

encylopaedia does not list entries for either Carline or Zedoary. Any

takers?

Hi everyone

I've not followed the diolog on this one... maybe I should have been

geographically only 2 miles from Sweeden and culturally 2 inches away.

I'm a bit puzzled by cimicifuga in Europe in the 16th C. Could it be another sp.
