Guest guest
Hello! We are the producers of the Virgin Coconut Oil that has been discussed here. As Jen has mentioned, this is a traditional coconut oil made through fermentation where the oil separates naturally from the water of freshly extracted coconut milk. There are no chemicals used whatsoever, and this is a method that has been used in the Philippines for hundreds of years. We actually don't make the oil ourselves, but have the families and farmers in our community make it this traditional way and then buy it from them. We just setup the standards and quality control system. So when you buy VCNO from us (or our US distributor Wilderness Family Naturals) you are supporting the small farmer businesses in the Philippines. None of them use chemicals or pesticides on their trees, and haven't for hundreds of years. Our place is located on Mt. Banahaw in Quezon Province, and since the mountain is an inactive volcano the soil is very rich, and no fertilizers are needed, and even if they were available the farmers are too poor to afford them. So the coconuts are completely organic, and we extract the milk within 48 hours of harvest using a cold pressed, wet-milling method. You can find out more about our method and the wonderful health benefits of coconut oil here: http://www.coconut-info.com As far as other brands, if there is no coconut smell or taste, it is refined and at least deodorized. If it is truly " virgin " it will retain the scent and taste. Commercial coconut oil is generally RBD (Refined, deodorized, and bleached), although it can be claimed to be organic as almost no coconut farmers use pesticides or fertilizers. God Bless! Shilhavy Mt. Banahaw Health Products Corp. http://www.coconut-info.com/ http://www.philippineherbs.com/peace.htm > I have tried both. I definately like the wilderness family one better. Actually, it is produced in the ines by Shilhavy, but he wanted to set up with someone here in the states to make it easier in shipping. It has a very pleasant coconut smell and light coconut taste. His production method is TOTALLY natural, using no chemicals, etc. The Omega Nutrition has no smell or taste at all. I really LIKE the smell and taste. It just feels right to me. > > > > rochester@h... > ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* > Click here for the best diet and nutrition information you will ever find! > www.westonaprice.org > ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* > " They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little > temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. Guest guest
I resisted VCO for a long time because I don't like the taste of coconut. Then I found I could get it processed without taste. The first time I had it, I was amazed at the increase in my energy. It leveled off after awhile. I fell out of the habit after I moved but am trying to incorporate it again. Kit > I have gone to the coconut oil website many times and am surprised at the people who have lost weight... and why... I use this in my soaps but never have used it in my diet... the suggestion of mixing the coconut oil with the no transfat butter sounded interesting.. sorry forgot the name of that butter... i have used it in my smoothies sometimes... the fat seems to satisfy more then just the berries..and apple juice.... i have thrown the flax oil in the smoothie also...
