Most mothers do just fine with them. they do have to be taught how to use them, cautioned to not hold the suction for ever and ever, etc. We did have some mothers who had a a hard time maintaining their supply with them, but it seems like that happens with other pumps, too. They're not the most convenient, since you have to create your own rhythm. They're a multi-user pump, which is also a plus.
