Guest guest
I tend to get this as well. Our family calls it "sympathy sickness" or "sympathy pains". I hate it when people talk about things like surgeries or internal ailments since I can almost feel it, especially with the ailments. There were times I swear I could feel my appendix swelling and about to burst, my kidneys shutting down or my liver acting up. It is sometimes hard to tell what is a real symptom and what is a phantom.

That has been similar to my experience. I can feel various bits of me go cold sometimes, during the telling. > With vague things like feelings, that is no way near as automatic and easy. Sometimes it takes me ages to " click " as to what a particular person was feeling at a particular time... sometimes months or years later. However, once it does click, the feelings of empathy can be strong. It reminds me of what some people have said about how the unconscious mind is always at work, making connections for us that surface later as " hunches " . But for the process to take that long... " If it came out any faster, it wouldn't be Heinz " ... or something.

He very nearly caused me to have one! I had a pain there for months afterwards and it starts hurting there again now just as I only write about it. *sigh* Talk about being easily suggestible! (Now you know why I take such pains to avoid commercials...) Inger
