Guest guest
hay will decrease the cla level..cow needs to be eating growing vegitation..the faster the growth the higher the cla level. alfalfa hay if good quality will help with milk volume over most other types of hay. protein content is the key..alfalfa hay is typically has good protein levels. if you buy make sure person selling hay knows you need 'dairy quality' alfalfa hay. dave

What I'm hoping is that feeding some hay doesn't reduce the CLA to the level it would be if there was no green grass in the diet, like said the supplemental grain did, essentially negating the the benefits of CLA in the cows eating grass and grain, bringing them to the level of strictly confined cows, with the grain apparently impairing the cow's ability to utilize the CLA-forming qualities of the grass. Am I understanding or explaining that correctly? Aubin __________________________________________________
