Guest guest
When she died , there was very little of " me left. " I tried to join her by drinking as much as I could, being selfish by not thinking about how much Sharon needed me to be here for her, and luckily I snapped out of it around labor day, went to the ER, and the rest is history. every time someone reads the story, I heal a little more. Thank you guys. Love bobby Is He Close To Death? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I've been lurking on this board reading all the posts and this is my > > first one. I'll try to keep it short. Guest guest
I read it too. You know, my ex-husband, when we were still married, never would do anything for me, even when I was sick. My four kids won't do much, either. But here was this woman that Bobby wasn't even married to or related to in any way, and he did all these things for her. That is truly love from a spirtual plane and it's rare to find here on earth. And it seems that Bobby's wife Sharon was okay with him spending so much time with Ardis, so it sounds like Bobby and Sharon are both saints. I don't think I've ever met people who would do all that for someone else who wasn't a spouse, child or other close relative. I know that when I get to that point, there will be no one there for me except for online support. Colleen Debra wrote: Bobby, I too just read " Ardis Story " and was so touched by it.. Im still crying and yet praising God that she had you and Sharon through it all. God makes so few very special people in this world and you are one of them. What a tribute to true friendship and love. I will never forget this story. Debra > > Hello yhtakl, I'm Bobby, you know who I am , if you read posts here. It was the saddest thing I ever experienced , yet one of the most beautiful things as well. Ardis chose to drink, and that was that. She was an adult, and allowed to make that decision. I did get her to a hepatologist for an informal evaluation last July, but she was weak, could not eat, in a rehab, had refractory acites, encephalopathy, and hepatorenal syndrome. She made it just about 6 months from the time of her first bout of kidney failure. > She died very peaceful, completely medicated for pain, in a beautiful hospice, and when I go I want to go just like that. Guest guest
I am certainly not a saint, but maybe Sharon is for putting up with me, Colleen. I hope that if you ever need help , the you won't be alone. I know that this group has been a lifsaver for me. When I first found this group, Dennis, and MaC had lost their wives, and Abijann had been through the wringer as a care giver for her husband through a transplant. These were people I could really relate too. Sharon always said " God put her in our way. " We took a responsibility that nearly destroyed our own relationship. We lucked out that in the end, that we are closer than ever and that's just the way Ardis would demand it to be. Guest guest
Colleen, God's mercies are new each day. Please seek out friends and support wherever you can. There is an older woman in my ss class who never spoke much to anyone. I decided to call her and see if she would be going to our Ladies Nite Out and she said she would if I would give her a ride. Of course I would and told her that Im surprised she hadnt joined us before.. She said that no one invited her or offered her a ride not once... Well to be honest I never knew she didnt drive and the dinner was posted each week in the bulletin for all the ladies. She said she shouldnt be the one to ask for a ride. My point is we did not know her need because she did not share it. Now she is so much more a part of everything in church and we all are getting to know her. And she has not missed a ladies nite out since then because we all know now to pick her up! You never know what life has in store for you. I married my eternal love 12 years ago. He is 10 years younger than me and the most patient loyal loving husband and best friend. He keeps me laughing even thru the tough times. He loves me even when I am my most unlovable... I actually considered not marrying him because of the age difference and fear of going thru another divorce, and that would have been my greatest mistake. So dont give up on mankind yet... Love does not have to come from family, so take inspiration from Bobbys story, Im sure Ardis didnt think she would have anyone either.. and look who God sent her. You are in my prayers and anytime you need someone to talk to well here I am. Debra > > > > Hello yhtakl, I'm Bobby, you know who I am , if you read posts > here. Guest guest
You are sweet, Debra. I of course left out of the story the 22 times in the last ten years that Ardis and I were not on speaking terms. We were co workers, and at one point when I was her crew leader, we CLASHED. But something kept drawing us together. Colleen, you can email me anytime as well. I will be here for you. Guest guest
Thanks for your support Debra. I just don't understand kids who rarely call or come to see their own mothers. There are a lot of kids like that these days. Mine are 37, 35, 28 and 18. Colleen Debra wrote: Colleen, God's mercies are new each day. Guest guest
I'm glad to hear that you and Sharon are even closer now. How is she doing healthwise? Colleen Bob Aragon wrote: I am certainly not a saint, but maybe Sharon is for putting up with me, Colleen.
