Guest guest
Hello! Thank you for your warm welcomes. I have been asked where I live in British Columbia and it is Surrey about an hour from Vancouver. I too have had a problem with no reflexes in my knees or feet. I was sent to a specialist 2 years back and she was a rheumatologist that was very specialized and basically another specialist had to refer you to her or you wouldn't get in. Even with that she has a year waiting list. When I went one of my complaints was that when I walked or stood, I felt my legs were like wooden stumps. There was no feeling, and when reflexs were checked I had none in my knees or feet. I had been told that having no reflexes can be because of a thyroid problem which I have. This specialized Doctor gave me prolo injections and I was to return in a couple of weeks. When I returned I told her that the feeling had returned to below my knees, I was estatic. I thought it was because of the injections into my ligaments and I had less pain. What had happened was that with less pain I was not gripping the floor with my toes to help me keep my balance and when you do this with your toes you tighten the muscles below your knees. With daily activities & just standing I was always gripping my toes, and with that I was tightening my muscles below my knees all the time and with that my muscles below my knees were always too tight. when she examined me I had reflexes in my knees and feet. I am not saying that this is the solution to anyone's problem, unbelievably it was mine and here I had been to Doctors and specialist and I had told them all about my wooden stumps(legs)and no reflexes. Even though I walk with a cane because of the pain and no balance, no one had come to that simple solution or even asked me how I was able to stand or keep my balance without my cane. I was in a rehab hospital because of losing my ability to walk and they never even make this connection. In their defence this was not my only complaint. Also for information, in the FM newletter I get they have mentioned that some people who have been diagnosed with FM actually have " spondyloarthropathy " which does involve back pain and sciatica like pain. Thanks for Listening! Regards!! Lois
