Hello everyone,

Just a brief update on me. I'm getting back to doing regular things, with a

backlog of mail, bills & work. My back started going out before my eye surgery

(which went well), and I had to do what I could to keep it from going completely

down-hill before the surgery, because it required that I lie absolutely still on

my back for about 40 minutes. The back did go out about a day after surgery, & I

have nursed it back to recovery. Could have been due to the worry about the

procedure. Anyhow, my vision in the good eye is close to 20/20 now & I am going

to reward myself with a pair of zippy new sunglasses.

My oldest son, who is a rock performer & visits often to hang out with me here

in Vegas insists I maintain a " cool " image.

Anyway, the nice medical work has prompted me to ask my other docs if anything

new or more can be done to help control/ reverse symptoms now, so I will be

making the rounds in the next several weeks with my fingers crossed.

Look forward to catching up with you guys!

Ken

The

pulmonary function test is the first step in diagnosing asthma. 70% is pretty

bad.

I take

allergy shots. They help me deal with my allergies, and dealing with them gives

me a leg-up on dealing with my asthma. Unfortunately, some people’s asthma is

made worse by allergy shots.

I use Flovent

virtually every day (I can skip an occasional day, during seasons when my

allergies and asthma aren’t too bad). I also take Singulair. For my allergies I

use Flonase and take xyrtec.

Subject: Hi!

Hi,

My name

is Jana and I am 26 years old. I have had terrible allergies for about

ten years now. About 5 years ago I started wheezing around animals, even

though I grew up with them most my life. My doctor gave me Claritin and

Proventil telling me that I have allergy induced asthma. Over the

past few years my condition has gotten worse. Cats, dogs, dust, paint

fumes, chemicals, cleaning products, perfumes all make me wheeze. Abou 6

months ago I had a really bad attack after painting my bedroom. My

inhaler was not working and had to go to the doctor. This doctor told me

that I did have asthma, gave me 10 childrens chewables of Singulair and

Azmacort inhaler and told me when I felt better that I should stop using the

Azmacort. Two weeks ago I decided I had enough and made an appointment to

go and see an allergist. I went to the doctor last Thursday and am very

pleased with what happened. Finally someone understood what I was going

through and said that I did not have to live like this anymore. I had

several test which showed that I was allergic to just about everything, which

he suggested that I start getting weekly shots. This doctor tells

me that I should have never stopped using the azmacort once I got better.

He gave me Singulair and Allegra-D to try. It is only Sunday and I do

notice a BIG difference. He also mentioned that if the Singulair did not

work for me that we would try Advair next. My question is that I am not

sure if the Singulair is working or if it was the breathing treatment, since I

have never had either before. Does anyone know anything about pulmonary

function tests, he said I got a 70% on it and it should be at least

80%??? I am sorry this is so long, but there is so much that I forgot to

ask him. I have noticed that with the Singulair I have had stomach pains

and dry mouth, is that normal?? Does anyone get allergy shots, and have

you noticed a difference?? That is all I can think of now, sorry so long.

Jana
