Dear ,

I'm so sorry that your doctor did this to you. I was in a similar situation.

I camped out on his door step and cornered him. I tried to be unemotional

about it and that lasted about 5 seconds. He did agree to let me have my meds

until I got to the pain clinic. But having to go thru that was another blow

to my all ready low self esteem.

Things did work out at the pain clinic tho. I hope the same goes for you.

Gentel hugs

Kathleen

Hi ,

Hope I,m not being too abrasive about this, but I can't understand what

planet you Ortho is on, and suggest you look for another dock, hopefully on

the same planet you're on! We tend to get into some kind of loyalty

syndrome sometines when considering changing docs, or simply consulting

another for an opinion.

If I understand correctly, you are still in considerable distress, but

that makes your dock think that therefor, he/she should reduce/discontinue

your meds. I cant quite follow this logic (?)

The pain program you mention, does it have a doctor or other dox attached

to it?.

Kathlleen,

I suspect that your emotions helped make your doc take you more seriously,

or suggested to him what you were saying was real.

Emotions can help you make your point a lot. One just has to be sure to

make the real message short & to the point, and include the highest

priority items. Then, expressions of how you feel will only strengthen your

position, or at least cause the doc (or whomever) to take more serious

notice. Why shouldn't someone in major distress show some feeling. If you

really cant control what you say when you become emotional, tell that to

the doc & give a written list of major points & explain how hard it is to

communicate when you are so upset. If a treatment person doesn't take this

seriously, check to see that they are actually human & still alive.

Hi,

Actually since I did my cornering act that doctor now takes me seriously. I

recently told him that I felt it was too bad that it had to come to that for

him to believe me. He didn't apologize tho. I only see him for the run of

the mill things now, colds, bronchitis etc. I have thought of changing

doctors but in this town the choices are limited. He seems to believe me now

when I come in with a migraine and need a shot. How do you interview a doc to

make sure it's someone you can work with? Also it is written in my chart that

I am in recovery, which can set off alarms with some doctors. Some people in

the medical field have the mind set that because someone is in recovery (13

years for me) they cannot be treated with pain meds. This has come up quite

often for me. I would like to have that information deleted from my medical

records, only because it has put me in a position that I have to explain

myself to some dense doctor.

I think I'm ranting again....sorry

This makes no sense. To just take away your pain meds after you've been

using them is not only inhuman but possibly dangerous. Did you ask him WHY

he did this?

I had no luck with nortiptyline for sleep. Useless. Trazadone helped a LOT

more.

Good luck with the pain management folks.

CULater,

Ruthie

Kathleen, I am assuming there must be a way to have medical info deleted

from your file.Afterall, it is YOUR information. I would check with

medical records at the clinic. Someone awhile back posted a site where

it gave info and a check list on how to interview and what questions to

ask a new doctor. Anyone have that yet?
