Guest guest
Had my methocholine challenge test this morning. It shows that I do in fact have moderate asthma. I lost about 18% function on the 2nd weakest dilution and 45% on the 3rd weakest dilution. At 45% drop I was feeling awful. I think the respiratory therapist was concerned at that point about how I was looking. Trying to do reproducible lung function tests at this point was a real challenge. I was so happy when the doc said I was through and they gave me a breathing treatment of abuterol. Took two treatments to finally get me back to normal function so the doc was comfortable sending me home. I am exhausted from the whole process ... planning to take the rest of the day to recuperate. Both the asthma/allergy doc and the pulmonologist were both feeling I had asthma as nothing else seemed to make sense ... this just makes the diagnosis definitive and certain. So I will now plunge into a regimen of 5 meds to work on getting things under control. - in SW MI
