I only have Vit C in 1000mg capsules. What are you using? Don't know enough

about homeopathy to know what to do. I do have some echineacea and goldenseal,

but don't know if this would be appropriate or how much to use.

Thanks

Thanks for all the info. I am new to the group and haven't seen the fevers

info. I am tending toward the hands off and let her body handle it approach.

How high a fever is too high? She is eating b-fast this morning so that is good

right? We drink alot of raw dairy, is she okay to have this?

Yes, please read carefuly what I've said below

Fever depends on the person - about 104.5 and above and sustained is

usually cause for concern, but I would do homeopathy first before any drug

- Tyelenol etc is VERY toxic to the liver and need your liver when ill

especially.

She sounds fine. Best to let body handle on own.........read again what I

wrote below

Amy,

I'd take the little one to the Dr. to listen to the chest and check the ears

etc... just to be on the safe side... see what the Dr. says and take it from

there...

ear infections could be a worry as they might spread nearby... have you tried

the hydrogen peroxide in the ear protocol... Dr. Mercola has some articles about

this treatment...

keep using the damp cloth or sponge to lower the temp... maybe this could be

done more often... a lukewarm bath is also effective... dress her indoors in

less layers of clothing...

I knew this would happen some day! My two year old is sick for the first time

and I am a nervous nelly. She has been running a fever since midnight. Between

101 and 102.7 degrees on an ear thermometer (digital). No other symptoms. No

cough, snot, rash. Seems fairly happy. I have been letting her nurse alot and

been wiping her with a damp wash cloth when she is really warm. What she I

watch out for and what should I do. Of course, mom says call Dr and give

Don't give tylenol! My son has had fevers a few times with no other symptoms

- I do not consider this being " sick " because otherwise he was fine. I view

this as his body efficiently killing off intruders. Let her run the fever,

but make sure it stays below 103.5 or so. You can do this by wiping with

cool cloths; there are also some herbs which help. Let me get back to you on

that one. :) It's wonderful you are still nursing!

Sincerely,

Michele

Keep her home and keep her quiet. I don't give my kids anything for fever,

except on occasion at night when they are too uncomfortable to sleep (since

you need sleep to get well). And I don't call the doctor for fever except in

a child under 6 months. My personal " pediatrician " is Dr.

Mendelsohn's book " How to Raise a Healthy Child in Spite of Your Doctor. "

Fever is not an illness itself, it is the body trying to rid itself of

illness. Give plenty of liquids (breastmilk is fine!). Don't dress too

warmly or you'll drive the fever up, but watch for getting chilled.

I don't see any reason to worry about an ear infection. If she does start

pulling at her ear, that's plenty of time to worry about it. I don't even

take them to the doctor for ear infections, instead I drip oil from a

pierced garlic capsule in, or put it on a cotton ball and put that in the

ear. The ear infection spreading is extremely rare, so rare that (I've been

told) in Europe they don't treat ear infections any differently than plain

old colds.

I have 4 kids ages 8 and under, and they are all in excellent health despite

that I don't take them to the doctor when they get sick!

Will do, Its just so hard to not jump for a fever reducer. My mom and friends

are all acting like I am abusing my daughter by letting her suffer from a fever.

Its that push button/instant fix mentality. So I have been standing firm and

giving Kombucha tea, bone broth, breastmilk and lots of hugs and kisses.

Thanks

Re: Sick two year old

Sounds like you are doing alright - while she's running a fever,

giver her only water or veggie broth and of course lots of mommie's

milk.

The echinacea is in a little bottle with a dropper. What is a tincture? (Okay

so I am clueless) It says echinacea glycerite with vitamin c. Also I have

Astragalus glycerite and goldenseal. all in dropper bottles and all are alcohol

free. I have been using them to treat a sinus infection I had.

You might want to try bathing him in some hydrogen peroxide in his

bathwater.....if you can't get the 35% food grade, then use the 3% over the

counter brown bottle, it will nip it in the bud.

Re: Sick two year old

Fevers are part of the immune response. I've heard one Dr. say that a

temperature induced internally by the body, will not harm the body.

It is probably best to let the fever run its course and not use any

medications to try to get it down. Reducing the fever only works in

the favor of the bug that the body is trying to kill. Of course if

the fever gets too high, see a dr.

If it makes you feel any better (or your family), when I worked as a pediatric

RN in a hospital in Louisiana, we had one family practice doctor who wouldn't

let us give any of his patients fever reducers unless their temps hit 102 or

above. He always said to let the fever do it's job (I think the order to allow

the reducers at 102 was probably more to appease the parents than for the

patient's benefit).

Hang in there, you've got all of us on your side. : )

The reverse I was told, because fever is a higher metabolic rate.

Hi,

Don't worry too much as long as her fever doesn't reach 105, you should be fine

with what you are doing. Just remember its the bodies way of killing off the

offending virus or bacteria that has invaded her body.
