Just a reminder that we are approaching our Sunday evening meditation time for

those interested in holding healing images of our children leading meaningful

lives, however we define that.

We are in Northern Colorado, very near . We are

in Loveland - Boulder, probably being the biggest city

near us. But then, Denver is an hour+ from us. As I

said, the schools seem interested in collecting

parental input (we are at the middle school level).

Thank you for any ideas you have.

Lynette,

In what part of the country are you? That will assist

me in suggesting where you might turn to find a good

music program. I happen to be exploring one out here

in California right now that is just entering the ASD

world, although they have been working with kids at

risk, and kids generally for quite a while. They are

called " Education Through Music " and their web site

is:

www.educationthroughmusic.com

Randy McChesney, a choral conductor, is the Executive

Director of " The 's Institute for Education

Through Music. " Their approach " combines neurology and

artistry " and their goal is " the enhancement of

intelligence. " I may make a presentation at one of

their training sessions to help them plunge further

into the ASD field.

Could you identify some music programs? Our local

school district is organizing the ASD parents to

define how best to educate: the parents, the school

professionals, as well as the kids. We might just end

up educating each other, and of course will need to be

focused on a particular direction to garner any funds

but this sure seems hopeful.

I know that my boys would both benefit from more

musical exposure but have wondered what was the best

type of introductory program. They are 13 - and,

maybe we just start with a piano teacher and see what

happens.

All this strengthens my conviction that music (and

movement) can play a major role in healing our kids.

.... There are several music/movement programs now

being used in some schools in California (and

elsewhere), particularly for ADD and ASD kids. I

believe this kind of activity is important for all

kids, but essential for the ASD children.
