I have seen several HIV negative guys who are hooked on Crystal Meth (or Tina as they call it) that looked extremely lipoatrophic and have severe facial wasting. I guess not eating for a few days, running around cleaning house and having sex for hours, and increasing your metabolic rate with this amphetamine can do a job on fat and muscle wasting! Crystal use is screwing up as many lives as AIDS has.

I have talked to doctors in LA (Tony Mills and Gottlieb) and they tell me it is a huge problem that they have to deal with daily in their practices. Crystal not only affects your judgement but it also makes you feel "powerful". Medication adherence drops tremendously. And safe sex goes out of the window. Depression and anxiety become part of your daily life after you get hooked. But may get hooked because it really increases energy levels for many hours and inhibitions drop. Some people get so used to having sex with it hat they find it difficult to enjoy sex if and when they stop using.

I also know some people that use it once in a while without getting hooked, but the addictive potential is huge.
