Guest guest
Does anyone have any experience of treating BPH/prostatitis along side prescription drugs? Male 71, symptoms started 6-7 months ago: pain in LIF, difficulty starting flow (takes a couple of secs), some dribbling, nocturia (2-4 times). Weight loss of approx 10k over 9 months. Recent PSA 83, biopsy result 2 days ago was clear, but patient and relatives didn't get told what the actual problem was or what the ultrasound showed. Follow-up in 2 months. He also had a urine infection + haematuria as a result of the biopsy procedure, GP prescribed Ciproxin (penicillin). It would appear he has BPH, but it is not clear yet how severe/advanced (does duration of symptoms give a clue?). While awaiting biopsy results I gave a tea of Zea mays, Elymus repens, Barosma betulina & Equisetum arvense for the UTI, which he took for a day and felt more pain and so stopped taking it. After biopsy was clear hospital prescribed Flomax (an alpha - adrenergic blocker, specific for BPH) and there is some improvement in symptoms. I would like to prescribe Serenoa, Urtica rad & Equisetum, and wonder if anyone has any experience of Flomax, and whether coprescribing herbs is Ok or is it better to try one or the other. Many thanks, Isobel __________________________________________________
