Guest guest
>Is this the same as the vanilla ice cream with cream recipe but swap cream for coconut milk? > >Filippa The only ones I've made are: 1. Open a can or two of coconut milk. 2. Add sweetener of your choice to taste. 3. Pour in ice cream maker. I'd guess it would be even better if you made a custard and added some coconut and nuts and chocolate chips. And/or just add raw egg yolks. I have made custards with coconut milk ... they are easier than cream (no skin), and ice cream that starts with a good custard is rather good. More work though. My " simple " recipe is fairly icy, not creamy, which is how it usually is in Thai restaurants too. But to answer question... yeah, you can in general swap coconut milk for cream in most recipes (incl. cream sauces). Great for folks with casein issues. -- Heidi
Guest guest
Thanks Heidi. I'm going to have to get me an ice cream maker one of these days! I make ice cream by stirring it every so often - works well but an ice cream maker is appealing. Thanks for the feedback. I think I'm going to make a coconut custard tonight! Guest guest
" im just salivating at the thought of coconut icecream now and i got no icecream maker " , ice cream is easy. Just stir it (food processor is good). Put it in a container in the fridge and every 20 minutes or so, give it a stir. It tends to go solid again later but it's just like the real thing the first day or so. Filippa
Guest guest
" ooooooh how do u make a coconut custard? that sound smighty fine as a desert with some fruit " I think Heidi said it's exactly the same as cream custard but replace the cream with coconut cream. I'm going to try it tonight. I can't wait to finish work so I can go make it. Yum yum!! Filippa

() No, you have to put it in the freezer and stir it every now and then. It's important to get the air in it. Nice and fluffy. Voila, you will have divine ice cream. It's important to get the air in it. Nice and fluffy. Voila, you will have divine ice cream. You can make ice cream easily with the Champion Juicer. Just freeze the mixture into ice cube trays, pop it into your juicer, and instant ice cream. Gayle

Guest guest
Ooooh, curses on you people who have work environments that allow you to read this group all day long! I can't be seen browsing the Web or reading long personal e-mails at work, so I have to catch up at night and it's a pain. Seems like a lot of people on this list have the luxury (and it is a luxury!) of getting paid to learn about nutrition. Gosh darn you all! I work at home Tom. No big bad bosses looking over my shoulder. On the other hand, I'm only looking at the emails when I'm not working and therefore I'm not paid to learn about nutrition. I'm only paid for the exact work I do, and not very well. I teach so I just squeeze peaks at the emails between classes. I'm sure there are loads of people here reading these emails at work. Yeah, it is a lot to read and catch up on. I work out of the house a couple of days a week and those are the days I get really behind. Guest guest
my last job was like that tom. was for a corporate based company. i surfed this page once ( which technically was about 20% related to my job ) whcih was selling computer hardware. Aparantly someone " dobbed " me in seeing i was not on a usual page and then i foudn myself in an office with my manager, his manager and the state manager. Got my ass grilled, told that i was effectively " stealing " from the company ( the 150k sized www page obviously cost a penny so ) my new job which is work at home doing web design i allow myself free web surfing lol P.S tell your boss this. In japan im told that certain companies now almost force you to surf the net or play a game of cards on the pc for 10 mins a day for " stress relief " _____ From: Tom [mailto:cassiusdio@...] Sent: Thursday, 18 December 2003 5:34 PM Subject: Re: coconut milk ice cream Ooooh, curses on you people who have work environments that allow you to read this group all day long!
