Guest guest
Dear Alison, I had a patient recently with episcleritis (of 3mths duration, pain on a daily basis), which cleared after less than 2 weeks on herbs. In her case onset was related to a lot of stress, feeling run-down, etc I gave her Scutellaria, Verbena, Echinacea, Calendula 25%, Vaccinium, Zingiber in mainmix, plus eyedrops: Hydrastis and Euphrasia (5gtt each) added into a little dropperbottle of Optrex, and like you I advised Bcomplex, also AO supplement. If this hadn't worked, I'd planned to try Euphrasia in mainmix, and Chamomilla AW externally. Hope this helps All the best Sabine low libido > > On another note, have a new patient with episcleritis of one year duration; > using Acular (anti-inflamm) eye drops and NSAIDs, for one month, with little > effect. Guest guest
Dear Alison, Did you find your patient was fine with the eyedrops ? I tested some Chamomilla AW on myself when I had conjunctivitis, and boy did it sting (to the degree that I literally couldn't open my eyes for the pain and had to wash out very promptly). Since then I've never dared suggests patients put anything I dispense into their eyes. Perhaps I should have mixed it with Optrex, in which case, in which proportion ? Best wishes Choudhury MNIMH .choudhury.01@... Guest guest
Hi , I found that ordinary saline solution used for contact lenses mixes very well wih a few drops of Euphrasia - proportions roughly 1-2gtt per eye bath cup of saline - it does not case any stinging. Hope it helps Newton > from: Choudhury > date: Thu, 18 Sep 2003 10:42:38 > to: ukherbal-list > subject: RE: episcleritis >
Guest guest
Hello all, I tried Euphrasia infusion once when I had episcleritis (for what it's worth, I have " relatively " dry-eye syndrome) and it wasn't a pleasant experience, especially as I then couldn't find my artificial tears. With hindsight, an astringent herb would be contraindicated in that type of condition. On the other hand, I've found Euphrasia infusion unbeatable, fast acting and very soothing, for conjunctivitis. Nothing would induce me to use either alcohol-containing preparations or aromatic herbs in mine, or anyone else's, eyes. All the best, Krystyna
Guest guest
Hello Krystyna, breastmilk is the best remedy for dry eyes, put one drop in each eye every day or more often, as you know breastmilk is sterile. You just need to find a woman who is breastfeeding to give you some, can keep it in the fridge for up to four days.
