When things seem odd and nerve-related, I always suggest chiropractic, It's amazing what chiropractic can accomplish when done by an experienced practitioner.

Hi,I read this post with interest because I personally experience very mild itching on occasion when breastfeeding my 8 month old. It only started happening in the last 2 months and it's very mild and doesn't happen often. It's only on the inner side of breast (closest to midline). It goes away quickly. I am allergic to gluten, and rarely eat it but haven't noticed any association with the itching and me cheating and eating something with gluten. In any case, I'm not writing about me! I have a client (baby is 9 days old) who is using a nipple shield. Baby wouldn't attach and mom was given shield in hospital. Short, soft nipples. We are working on latching w/o shield. Some success. Mom reports latch feels "ticklish" with shield and that she experiences itchiness inside breast during feed (only the one being fed on) and no itching between feeds. Mom reports no known food allergies. Other than let-down and allergies, could this

be latch related or from any other cause? Is there anything other than working on the latch and food elimination she can do to alleviate the itching? Thanks for your suggestions, Massillon, IBCLCSan Francisco, CA
