Guest guest
I am the person that sits in the background and just watches the messages. I don't have a dr. appt until next week and the transplant clinic in December, but there is something that is concerning me. I have been on diuretics (sp?) for about 6 months to handle the fluid build up in my legs. It has been handling it okay. The problem is coming into play with my abdomen. On most days it looks like a small basketball, but no pain. I have also noticed that the Kristalose I take has not been working as much and I have had to increase the number of packets that I am taking each day, even then the way it has been working has altered dramatically. I have been gaining weight slowly but steadily over the past 6-8 months. 8 months ago I weighed about 139........the last time I was weighed in the dr. office it was 151. I am not eating any more, if anything it is less. Sodium is strictly restricted, and meat is out. Yet clothes that I was wearing 6 months ago, even one month ago are no longer fitting. This is rough when the job requires professional dress which includes a lot of suits. Not the easiest nor cheapest thing to replace. Due to such an enlarged spleen, dr. has restricted me from too much exercise but I walk a ton...........My work itself involves a lot of being on my feet and in front of people. I also do yoga every morning. So I can not for the life of me figure out this weight gain. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any suggestion. Guest guest
I would think it is the fluid. I'm starting to do the same thing. Guest guest
It sounds to me that you are developing ascites. Have your doctor check for this at your appt next week. If it is, then maybe he can schedule a parecentisis to remove the fluid and/or another type of diuretic. If the swelling in your abdomen or ankles increases greatly or causes pain or shortness of breath you need to go to an emergency room. If your not sure, you can call the doctors office and talk to the nurse as well. MaC jkost1959 wrote: I am the person that sits in the background and just watches the messages.
