Thanks to everyone who posted about the low muscle tone. Thanks for the

research article. BTW, my son was not early, but two weeks late and weighed 9

1/2

pounds. Still, he is low in cysteine, sulfate and glutathione..

Dr. JM, I was wondering what a safe/good dosage of L-carnitine is for a 2 1/2

year old

who weighs 32 pounds. If he were given too much, could it cause a fever?

Thanks a bunch and my best to all,

Jill

L-Carnitine is non-toxic, and many older kids take 1000mg a day or more.

Ecological Formulas has a 250mg capsule; I would divide that in half and

give twice a day (before meals) and see how he does, increasing if you don't

have problems to one twice daily. A few kids can get a bit hyper at first

on carnitine. Dr. JM

My daughter is 4 1/2, 50# and takes 2 tablets of Carnitor (330mg

each) three times a day. She was only taking 1 tablet three times a

day before bloodwork showed her carnitine level still low, then

increased to the 2 tablets. She has low gross motor, but seems to

be running better and jumping with both feet, more energy, dancing

around. But she is also on Custom amino acid formula and many other

supplements as advised by Dr. JM at appt after mini DAN! in Nov.

(Thank you, Dr. JM!!) She is making noticeable progress, speaking

more, more interactive, etc.

Hi a.. I am so glad you posted an update. I had thought of you

guys recently. That's wonderful that she is responding so well. So

did my little guy and it's great to see the progress. And we have

Dr. M to thank also.

Keep us posted and it was so nice to meet you while you were here.
