Guest guest
Hi everyone, I am just curious about this after reading a bit about a report of an HIV lipodystrophy patient developing angiolipomatosis. Angiolipomas which I have in a rather rare combination with Madelungs disease (aka multiple symmetrical lipomatosis) has not been well evaluated. I recently learned that the condition MSL is much more common in Mediterranian areas than in North America. It seems that the incidence there is 1:25000 which is relatively common. A doctor I recently met with at Stanford (oddly enough a sleep disorders specialist) knew all about these conditions and said that angiolipomas (harder than regular lipomas because they contain blood vessels, other tissue and genetic information) often pump out various hormones. If anyone else has HIV Lipodystrophy (essentially the same condition I've got) with angiolipomas I'd like to compare notes on this. I'm also working on trying to get into studies where they're studying you all with HIV Lipodystrophy to see if there are other correlating factors. It seems that MSL patients have an extra fat vacuole in many cells. I'm also experiencing the same kind of fat wasting as some of you, yet I don't seem to have HIV and so far as I know I've never taken a protease inhibitor. Have any of you needed breast reduction? In typical MSL both male and female patients sometimes need this and it is second on my list of upcoming surgeries. If anybody did have I'm curious about how results.
