Barb - I am so sorry you and your family have to go through this. Please

take comfort in the fact that I will kept you in my prayers and I am sure

Dear Friends,

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well and that you are gearing

up for either summer or fall/ winter depending upon where you live. Happily

we are getting ready to be finished with school soon, and to have a bit of

summer. Due to the very snowy winter here in Pennsylvania, we have only

about 10 weeks of summer vacation this year. Too short. Funny how that can

be a long time when you are anticipating something, and far too short when

you are not.

Jonas had his regular appointment with the cardiologist the other day.

He has a primum Atrio-septal Defect which means essentially that he has a

hole between one side of the heart and the other which is allowing the

inappropriate mixing of oxygenated blood with un-oxygenated blood. He has

very slight enlargement of his heart due to the added strain this puts on

his heart, and he has an increase in the size of his cardiac vascular system

also due to additional stress on it. So, the benefit of waiting has passed,

and Jonas is now needing to have the surgery this summer. We have chosen to

schedule it pretty soon after school, and expect it to be at the tail end of

June, or the first part of July. Everyone in the world has told me Jonas

will be fine. I know he will do well. It is all the other stuff that keeps

me feeling like I want everyone to leave me alone so I can cry my heart out.

I know all too well what they are going to have to put him through, and how

he will look immediately following the suxø

we did in Aug of 02' when Dorothy was 4 months old. The worst part is the

Thank you so much Alice. I take comfort in all of the wonderful success stories

that I hear. The waiting is awful and the thought of giving him over to the

doctors is pretty hard for me yet. I will be terribly busy getting some things

done before the surgery, like directing Vacation Bible School for approx. 100

kids at my church. I also have to take down his crib because I can not have him

climbing out of is with a chest wound. So, big boy bed is on the horizon. He

can get out of the crib, so it needs to be removed anyway. I can hardly sleep

for all the things running in my head. Thank you for the offer to talk to you.

I shall be keeping your number in case I need to commiserate. Thanks again!
