Guest guest
Glutathione is good in any form you take it; the new oral liquid Lipoceutical GSH is very potent, and I would give that a try before going back to the IV's to see if you get comparable results. Do you have any idea why she regressed with glyconutrients? I've never had any response to them good or bad with the kids I've tried them on. It is curious that they caused her to regress. I personally think every child on the spectrum deserves a trial with the methylcobalamin injections; in the 7 years I have been doing this no other therapy has had such immediate benefit for so many - 90% of kids benefit. The science is coming in fast and clear that our kids have methylation impairment, and this is the first and best remedy for it. If you are happy with her the way she is, you may choose to not do anything, but I think I would want to explore whether natural remedies could get her balanced so she would not have to depend upon SSRI's indefinitely. 50mg is a large dose of Zoloft for a child in my opinion. I don't advise them until I have exhausted all natural means to help children toward nutritional balance, diet, gut healing, quintet, and chelation. As you know, I believe in testing to see what kids need, and use that as well as my clinical intuition to guide me in their treatment. In my experience with diet and enzymes, I find the kids who do both have the most benefit - it might be good to get a 90-food IgG to see if anything she is eating is inflaming her gut - enzymes can usually only partially do the job unless she happens to have a gut that was not very injured. However, they are certainly better than nothing for those who find it too difficult to restrict foods, and that is admittedly harder with older kids. But it can be done, and often has to be for complete healing for most kids. It is hard for me to say anymore without knowing the details of her medical history and condition, and I prefer to stay general on the board, of course. My daughter had IV Glutathione treatments for just over a year and we saw some good things. We stopped them this summer because she went into such a regression when our doctor had us try glyconutrients. We tried a GF/CF diet in the past which was hard because my daughter is older. We have really seen more progress with enzymes. > Now to my question, I am wondering if we should try the IV Glutathione again? I am hearing lots of talk about glutathione. We also use melatonin at night and she takes 50 mg of Zoloft to help with anxiety and OCD Magnesium is the only other supplement we give. My daughter is 13. > Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. > > > >

Guest guest
Dr. M, do you think it's possible or likely that a child could recover just through glutathione supplementation? If the glut lets the child's body detoxify itself, this seems more desirable to me than forcing detox with chelation. My daughter has had a phemonenol response to the lipoceutical glut - her expressive language has exploded, and her joint attention is great now. We were planning to start TD-DMPS with both kids over the holidays, but now I'm wondering if the glut is sufficient for her (my older son has responded positively, but not as dramatically). Thanks, > If it is too much, it means that it is making the body detox faster than the > child can handle, so dose and frequency should be adjusted accordingly. Guest guest
I do think it is possible; as long as she is making such wonderful progress why don't you just watch and wait for awhile? You can always chelate if you feel progress stops or doesn't go as far as you'd like. Guest guest
If she's not a good eater, I think a 40-Amino Acid panel from Metametrix is invaluable, as it will pinpoint important deficiencies, and their sister company Metabolic Maintenance can make up a personalized formula for her based on the results. If they do not get the basic precursors for brain neurotransmitters in their aminos, it's hard for the brain to put things together. While you're doing the blood draw for that you can also do the RBC minerals which is important to see if her mineral level is adequate to the self-detox job we're trying to pull the kids into. The other test that is invaluable for seeing what vitamin and nutrient deficiencies she has is the Organix. These are the 3 most important and 1st tests I need on a child I evaluate; these all come in the ION as a panel, which also provides a fatty acid analysis and a vitamin panel as well as the Amino Acids, RBC minerals, and organix, but the first three are the most important. I also feel the Immunosciences Comprehensive Viral Panel #3 is a minimum to rule out viral presence that could be implicated in perseverative speech patterns. I would not delay the methylcobalamin injections; they have been shown to be extremely valuable for the majority of kids who take them, they are non-toxic, no testing is required, and the vast majority of children accept the shots easily. This should be accompanied by Folacal (Thorne's folinic acid, 800mcg caps twice daily).
