Guest guest
Often times end stage liver disease includes kidney failure. Like diabeties it can be something that happens in the process of the liver disease as the body fails. I could not speak to what you can do. A hepatologist and kidney doc would know more. Bless you, I know this is hard. Pamela liver desease, and kidney failure this is my second message....has anyone delt with a person that had both kidney failure, and end stages of cirrhosis ??? If so what can we do??? ....can we prolong this life???
Guest guest
Hi, Janet. My name is Bobby. I have end stage liver disease. My best friend in the whole world Ardis Lorraine died from it last August 3rd, at 1:00am sharp. The angels came for her. Based on what I learned from that I can only advise you from that perspective. We told at a very late stage that she could not recieve a liver transplant. My wife and I were her medical proxy. We asked for hospice to take over. From then on , it was important to give her anything she wanted. She made me a list. Cinnabon, beer, a vodka tonic, warm french bread with butter. Mostly she wanted some beer, and we got it for her. She wanted to eat good food, and we took her , wheelchair and all to out favorite restaurant. She was brave. She told me a few days before her death that she was afraid, but when it came down to brass tacks, she was a real trooper, and faced the end head on, and saw it coming, and didnt blink. She was in a lot of pain, and the hospice nurses made sure they fought that pain with all of their weapons. The only thing in retrospect, is that I regret not having an IV that we could have used to get pain drugs into her system faster. For me, I now realize that death is not the ultimate enemy, pain and suffering is. Her entire story can be read here, http://robertwalkingeagle.googlepages.com/home but don't be mad, it's long. The short version is this, your friend will almost certainly die very soon. I am so sorry. Unless he was already evaluated for a transplant, and is a candidate, or there is some way for him to get a transplant, hepatorenal is a very late stage. My heart goes out to you. I hope you are able to make his death special.( that sounds awful, but I know that we made Ardis' death special, and I made a hell of a difference in how we feel about the matter today.) Guest guest
Bobby, I think one of the gifts God gave you was putting things into perspective. I hope you had a good Christmas. You and Sharon are always in my thoughts. MaC Bob Aragon wrote: Hi, Janet. My name is Bobby. I have end stage liver disease.
