Guest guest
Marcia This may not be relevant in your client's case but sometimes acne rosacea may have a digestive element - this certainly seemed to be true with a recent patient whose case history revealed a hiatus hernia. Mix includes Berb. aq., Arctium lappa, Filip ulm., Althaea and Trifolium pratense and is so far helping. I'm about to include Acorus calamus in the mix. Also has Calendula and Mentha pip tea. Another person did not respond to anything, but copious amounts of Hemp Seed Oil cream regularly for over a year have made a big difference. Hope this helps - hope you're keeping well too. Guest guest
Hi Marcia, there is plenty info in archives, but I found Vaccinium and Aesculus in the mix bring very quick results plus a cooling cream - with 1-2 drops of peppermint EO. Some of my patients that have used antibiotics for years had extremely dry skin but also their skin had a different " structure " - a bit similar to the skin damaged by longterm use of topical steroids. In these patients I found that calendula cream did wonders. Hope it helps --- Marcia Dixon wrote: --------------------------------- Hi all, I have a new client coming in soon who's main complaint is acne rosacea. Recent reports have suggested an increased prevalence of Helicobacter pylori infection in patients with rosacea, with some evidence of dermatological improvement in patients treated with antibiotics for this infection. Our study investigates the prevalence of H. pylori infection in rosacea patients in Kerman. Serological examination was done for 29 patients with classical identification of rosacea using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay IgG antibody method. Comparison of antibody titres with those of a control group revealed that the prevalence of positive serological tests for H. pylori was significantly higher in the test group. This supports the suggestion of some form of relationship between rosacea and H. pylori infection, though further investigations with larger sample sizes are required for a definite conclusion. Guest guest
Hi...was interested to see all the feedback on cea...I have a new px suffering quite badly...she's just stopped using an antibiotic cream and wants an alternative (in addition to internal treatment) - I've tried her with rose and chamomile, chamomile, chickweed creams and she's reacted to all of them - flares up and is hot and sore.... I'm not sure how much is due to the creams, but I'm a bit stumped. Am trying hemp oil cream next.... There's quite a good website for sufferers which I found very informative too - www.rosacea.org - the 'coping' section is good. For my patient, it started with the onset of menopause - she's very distressed about it as she's an anxious person and can't wear makeup any more... She stopped the creams but still felt it flared and I'm wondering if she reacted to the Calendula or Urtica in her mix....? I'd be interested if you get anywhere with your patient, and will let you know my progress! cheers, Isobel Exeter rosacea Hi all, I have a new client coming in soon who's main complaint is acne rosacea. It is long standing and he has had both topical and oral antibiotic treatment for this which has been successful, however, now he would like to try alternative medicine. The only info I have on this condition, is that it is an inflammatory disease and they treat it with antibiotics. I would assume that a pt like this would probably benefit from EFA's and other immune boosting and antiinflammatory herbs. Any feedback and tips on favorite herbs welcome from those of you who have had success treating this would be much appreciated. Guest guest
it's probably the cream bases she's reacting to. how about using a wash of infused herbs instead? or a face pack using oats, slippery elm and essential oils? (helichrysum, carrot seed, rosewood I always use in any acne.) or without the oils to start if she's very sensitive. or spray the face with geranium AW. or plain hemp oil, not cream. or honey, which is also a good carrier for EOs. my last rosacea patient buggered off after a mega flare- up. she followed my advice and drank lots of water (previously none) and it turned out she was sensitive to chlorine in tap water - but by the time i'd worked that out I'd lost her. now I specify filtered or plain bottled water... nne ==================================================== nne Last BA MNIMH Consultant Medical Herbalist Chepstow Abergavenny and Monmouth Tel: 01600 719497 www.mariannelast.co.uk
Guest guest
Hi Isobel, My immediate reaction to this would be - don't use creams. Lots of people just don't suit that medium of application. Don't just try another one - go for an aromatic water based spray - maybe with a bit of glycerine (not too much or it will gunk up the spray mechanism and look oily on the face) or a herbal steam (only if very soothing herbs) or a clay mask. Be experimental. If she really really insists on something cream-based, don't use a base cream, make it yourself from scratch. If that is also not possible, then at least go for a different brand of base cream. Good luck. Guest guest
cea is often linked to other heat -related conditions such as heartburn. Cooling herbs such as Filipendula, Tarax rad, and small doses of Mentha (internally) can be useful in addition to other treatments.
