Some Thoughts

Greetings from Canada: As someone who suffers from chronic pain,

but of a lesser magnitude I have so far enjoyed reading what is

being placed on this list. There are some points that I think

should be stated that might be of help to list members.

1. I have a great deal of difficulty with abbreviations to

terms, you the writer may know what you are referring to but many

times I don't. This makes it very difficult for me to understand

what it is you are saying.

2. Many of these messages that contain important information I

try to save. Here I would like to point out that some writers

have just replied to something written without starting a new

message. So I not only save the message but the tag on as well.

Would it be possible that when you reply to please consider

whether the original message is important? If it isn't could you

start a new message?

3. As a chronic pain sufferer I have had to not only educate

myself, but to also keep informed about what my doctors want me

to do. I have noticed that with access to the Internet that

there more than one non biased medical information sites. Here

are a couple that reside in my bookmark file:

http://www.medicinenet.com/hp.asp?li=MNI Medicine Net

http://www.medicalonline.com.au/

Sometimes people don't use this medium as a research facility.

4. Last but not least I 've read since joining this list what

sounds like people who don't really question their doctor's. Why

anyone would not question his or her doctor is beyond me!

Doctors are human beings who have simply gone to school and got

an education. They may not have our pain, but when we don't ask

questions of them we are allowing them [doctor's] to be put on

pedestals. I believe it is our responsibility ask questions and

get answers so we can live our lives the best we can.

5. Two final but I think important points are that we should

use the internet to find and correspond with caring doctors, and

that writers to this list should in someway indicate what country

they are writing from. The reason for this secondary point is

that medical setups are different in the various countries and

this might give more information to the reader.

I close in Peace
