Hi Thane,From my experience, a spinal tap basically reveals if there are any abnormalities in the meningeal (spinal) fluid, primarily in the form of bacteria or viruses. I had one done when I had viral meningitis from the shingles virus.Maybe you're mom would do well to ask the doctor what he had in mind when he made the suggestion. Have you been having a proliferation in headaches and fever lately? If so, is it anything different from other herxes you've had? A regular doctor may say that the headaches could be meningitis, but that's not something that tends to recur (you tend to get better or go south without treatment rather quickly). They also perform spinal taps to look for bleeding around the brain, and to try to get to the bottom of seizures and

headaches. It's a pretty invasive procedure! If there are other ways to look for the cause of your current challenges, I'd say opt for them. Maybe you can look around and see if there is anyone in your area that uses a bioresonance machine. It's not at all invasive, and it is really supposed to be able to diagnose exactly what is weak and needed in your body. I am seeing an LLMD that works with one starting next week, and am pretty excited.Good luck, and please be sure that there is no other way to get to the bottom of things before getting a spinal tap.Cheers,CoreySubject: OT: Spinal TapTo:

Does anybody know what all can be learned from a spinal tap? A doctor at my moms work told her I need to get one. Any thoughts?

Thx, Thane

Thane

It is painful and I don't know of any LLMDs who are recommending them.

What bio-feedback/resonance machine are you speaking of? Dr. K uses ART. Autonomic Response Testing....he trains Dr.s from all over in this energetic testing.

I agree with Corey.  I have a friend that has had several as they were looking for Lyme etc.  The hole where they did it didn't clot properly one time, and she had searing head-aches until they got it fixed.  Of course, this is the worst case scenario.

If you make it to Dr. K, I understand they have a bio-feedback/resonance machine that they use in the office.

Take care,

Thanks for the correction, .  I had talked with someone, about 1 1/2 ago that had gone to Dr. K and she told me he used a bio-feedback machine.  Things can get twisted with repeating!

Thanks again,

Thane, From my understanding the spinal tap would be a type of PCR test - looking for the actual spirochettes themselves.  My MD, who is great at diagnosing, did not recommend PCR for anything.  She said it's a poke in the dark.  You might get some critters in the sample or you may not. (She said your chances are about 1 in 10)

What a great way for those who do not believe in chronic lyme to confirm that there isn't such thing -  Pick a test with a very high false negative.   Many allopaths consider it the gold standard. right. And I agree with everyone else the risk is high.  I too know someone who got the dreaded spinal tap migraine.  BTW - she was being tested for lyme at a military hospital.  That was 10 years ago, she is still very sick, but with nonresponding depression, because, of course, it couldn't be lyme. The spinal was negative.  sigh.............

No worries, .  I was speaking second hand anyway.   Cheryl

Cheryl

Sorry if that sounded like I was snapping at you....I know there is an Ondamed located at the center...but My daughter has seen DrD K many times now and he always uses ART. It may be that your friend did receive an Ondamed treatment.....but that is not done by DK. Anyway it's all great energetic testing!

Thanks,
