Guest guest
Hi! I scheduled my surgery yesterday for June 16th. I am from Minnesota , so I probably won't see him until the day before. His nurse Pam said you could e-mail him anytime though if I have any questions. Unfortunately, thyroid disease does run in my family dating back to great-grandma. The odd thing is my mom was just diagnosed with thyroid about a year ago. She had silicone implants put in 25 years ago. One ruptured and she had saline implants put in about maybe eight years ago. She is coming to Dallas with me so maybe she will want hers out after she hears the negative things about them. Are you going to do any type of detox after? It sounds like it is important to do. I'm sure we can get some good advice from these ladies who have traveled this path before us. Lets keep in touch! Kim
Guest guest
Dearest Kim: I'm so glad that you are having your implants out. In the last week, I have been going through my old research, and it looks as if saline is just as bad or worse as silicone in some ways. I'm not sure how it affects our thyroid, but it does. No one in my family has thyroid problems, yet that was one of the problems that took my doctors years to diagnose. I heard Dr. speak about the high incidence of Hashimoto's thyroiditis in women with breast implants. I come from a family who are all thin, and yet my weight was climbing. Dr. Blais has told me that in some cases the capsule can double in size. We know that is what happened to me because my implants literally grew. When I was implanted, my plastic surgeon put in small implants. The first ones were 200cc and the second ones were 220cc. He put in his notes that they were slightly too large. My weight was around 98lbs (I have the notes from my plastic surgeon in front of me); however, very few women have their original implant records. I'm really worried about your Mother, because when you replace silicone with saline it can cause serious problems. Many women in my group opted for saline after their silicone ruptured. This is not good because it is so hard to get all of the silicone out when they rupture. In my case, the plastic surgeon put the Surgitek implants into a mess of old capsules, shells and dacron patches (he called them thatches in his notes), and this has caused so many serious health problems for me. Dr. Blais has told me that I might have to stay on antibiotics for the rest of my life. This is because I was not cleaned out properly, and my second set were deadly. I wish that I had listened to a lady who told me not to have my implants removed until I had notified the hospital administrator and a lawyer. I was so sick that I just wanted them out...my first big mistake. Honey, please have your Mother read my story, because she will be able to see what has happened to me. Also, Dr. Blais has told me that saline is worse than silicone!! www.humanticsfoundation.com/lea.html , my story will continue because my health problems became worse. I'm finally starting to get better, but it will mean that I will be under many doctors care for the rest of my life. Bless all the wonderful ladies on this site...love always...Lea ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~``` Message to interart81-frombluejayfauxpainter > Hi!
