Guest guest
Here's the link to customer care: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/groups/original/general.html But I think Dorothy would have to ask the question as the moderator to see if it's possible for Yahoo to change the group attributes to give her ownership. I don't think they will do this. They may be able see if 's email is active but may not provide this information either for 's protection. Maybe they can " unbounce " her? At the very least they could probably give suggestions. MaC --------------------------------- Need Mail bonding? Go to the Yahoo! Mail Q & A for great tips from Yahoo! Answers users. Guest guest
Every once in awhile Yahell, oops yahoo I mean LOL randomly picks members on different groups to ' bounce' this helps them weed out spammers & automated replies. Its nothing personal, you just got picked this time, its happened to me several times. I belong to several groups ( own one, moderater on 2) so yes, you do have to check if your not receiving your emails. Dorothy could try the moderator HELP section she ll see at the top of the group home page to try to straighten her owner problem. hope this helps tilly Dennis wrote: Hi to everyone...In going through my e-mail tonight, I realized that it had been a while since I received a message from the group. I normally get every post shortly after it goes online. And while this group sometimes " goes quiet, " I recalled that it had become pretty busy recently so I was puzzled. When I went to the group site, I found a lot of recent posts--none of which I had received. I checked further and discovered that I wasn't receiving posts any longer because my e-mail had been " bouncing " for almost two weeks. I think I fixed it (I just received a message from Yahoo saying " If you receive this then all is well " or something like that). I have absolutely no idea why my e-mail would bounce (it's like having a letter come back with " return to sender " on it). I've had the same e-mail address for the last seven years...even staying with msn when I have a gmail account and, as a result of my DSL connection, a Bell South address as well. Some quick thoughts: First, we probably all should check from time- to-time to be sure that posts from our groups are not bouncing, especially if we haven't had one for a while. Second, one of the last posts I actually received was from Dorothy discussing that while she was the moderator, she was not the owner...and that e-mail to (believe that's the name of the owner) was bouncing. While may have moved on to another address, it's also very possible that she did not. As long as Yahoo has determined that an address is " invalid " there's not much to do on our end. would need to " reactivate " her account...but that assumes she realizes it's not working. Again, the frustration is that she, like me, may have done nothing. I have absolutely no idea why my mail from Yahoo bounced. Believe me, no one else's did...and there are many I wish would be " returned to sender. " Finally, I wonder if there is not some way that we can get Yahoo to recognize that we have an " absentee " owner and, therefore, replace her. Surely Yahoo must have had this happen before. It seems unfair to ask Dorothy to be the moderator, but then to limit exactly what she can do. I don't know the process to change this or even where to start but I would support such a change. Looks as if I have a lot of posts to go through...will try to do some of that tonight and more tomorrow. Take care, Dennis love ya
Guest guest
Yahoo will not make a person an owner of a list. This is a constant topic of conversation on the Yahoo moderators/owners discussion group. Our group is by no means unique in having an " absentee owner " . Many groups have similar concerns, and Yahoo just doesn't want to run lists. I think we can understand that the time it would take a Yahoo sys admin to handle this sort of request is not worth it for Yahoo since this is, after all, a free service. The remedy is to start a new list and invite everyone to join it. I've chosen not to do that for this group since I think that would be onerous for the folks here who need the group most. If the rest of you feel comfortable with a new group, I'll happily set it up, solicit a co-owner and a couple mods, and we can have a little better control over things (e.g., new members, now messages archive). I'll bow to the general consensus. Cheers! Dorothy
