Guest guest
Marina, My Opthamologist had me get GenTeal Lubricant Eye Drops. I didn't realize I had dry eye because they water sometime its like I am crying, he told me that my eyes are not absorbing the tears. The drops seem to have helped. in Central Oregon
Guest guest
marina... go and get the bion tears... they sell them at wal-mart.. for the cheapest ... they really work for me... and i was really bad, too... because they are so exspensive, i re=use the vials.... just becarful not to contaminate it... one usually last for three or four days... i do i morning and night... and in between if needed..;O) rae [ ] Dry Eyes Hey all. Just wondering what any of you may have done to help with the dry eye issues with Sjogren's? Restasis did nothing. I have don't all the artificial tears and they only work as long as I am dripping them in. Once they dry up so does my eyeball!! Punctal Plugs were very irritating and didn't really help much. My opthalmologist cauterized my lower lacrimal ducts. That really didn't do anything (turns out they didn't fully close up). I am taking tetracycline to try and thin out my tears (one of the side effects of the med). Last week I had my right lower lacrimal redone and the right upper duct done for the first time. It seems to be helping some. I don't feel like I am having to peel my lids open in the morning on the right eye as badly as the left. Before the procedure it was VERY painful to get my eyelids open in the morning. I get them open just enough to be able to put some drops in there to moisten things up. My right eye is still very dry, but not to the extent as it was before. I am using Pred Forte (steroid drops) 2x a day. I have put ointment in my eyes at night to try and help the dryness that occures overnight. But, some days it is so bad that when I get online I can't read anything on the computer because my vision is so blurry. Some days my vision is 20/20. When the dryness is real bad and my vision is blurry I am lucky to be 20/100 or worse!! Thanks for listening....Marina/Ohio

Guest guest
Sorry to hear about your Sjogrens. I have it also, but the Restasis had done wonders for me! I agree with you on the punctal plugs - they drove me crazy. I had to have them taken out my very next appt. I was diagnosed with Sjogrens after an episode with one eye going totally blurry while driving. I thought I might have had a mini-stroke! My family dr. couldn 't find anything wrong, so I went to an opthamologist. It turned out that he specializes in dry eye diseases! Talk about being led by God! After the diagnosis, a lot of things made sense, like my dry mouth when I sing (or talk too much!) and my constantly changing vision. With the help of Salagen, my dry mouth is somewhat under control, although I still have to chew a lot of sugarless gum (especially when I sing!). My eyes are much better, so I only have to use eyedrops occasionally, when the Sjogrens really flares up. I hope you and your doctor are able to find something to give you some relief soon. It sounds like you've got a good dr. who knows what he is doing. Hang in there! One of my favorite sayings is " The only constant in life is that things change. " I hope things change for you soon. I'll keep you in my prayers. Vikki [ ] Dry Eyes Hey all. Just wondering what any of you may have done to help with the dry eye issues with Sjogren's? Restasis did nothing. Guest guest
Hi ... that Sjogren's is tricky stuff! I also found the Aqua-drops (sugar free) and I keep one pack in my purse and one in the drawer by my bed. I found mine at Target and also at Kroger. The melon ones are very good. I was skeptical and thinking that any hard candy could do the trick, but not so. Guest guest
Hi Marina, My eyes are terrible. I am still on the Restasis, but my eyes are still as gritty and (i think painful) and hard to see out of than ever. They have not have any of the plugs or any of those things put in. He did not feel that it would help much (my Opthamologist). I go to see him fairly soon. I'm so sorry you are having such problems with your eyes. It does concern me about my eyes because I have a Grandfather who went blind, two 2nd cousins. As far as I know not because of Sjo. But then again what do we know about this syndrome????? No one in my family wrote anything down, yet I know down through the generations some have suffered some of the same symptoms through word of mouth of cousins, etc. It is the best thing we can do as parents....gather information up for our future generations so they have answers. Guest guest
Thank you, Nan. I felt the same way on Restasis. Trust me, you don't want the plugs!! They are irritating. The cauterizing of my upper and lower lacrimal ducts on the right eye seems to have helped some. At least my eye has compensated and stoped dripping thick tears down my face!! The moisture seems to be staying on the eyeball, though it still feels dry. You are right about past generations. My grandparents never wrote things down either. I am the only one in the family with RA, FM. Sjogrens, possible Lupus. Looks like I am making up for all the others!!lol. I'm sure someone way back when had to have one or more of these and they just didn't know what it was. Oh well. Thanks for the reply, Nan..........Marina > > Hi Marina, > My eyes are terrible. Guest guest
I was wondering if any of you experience really dry eyes. Maybe I'm developing seasonal allergies, but my eyes have been so bloodshot and dry lately, I'm going to get an allergy test next week. But I believe I read previous posts that said that dryness in the eyes was related to other symptoms. What do you all think is causing it? -Lo
Guest guest
Have you been tested for Sjogren's Syndrome? That is an autoimmune disease characterized by dry eyes, dry mouth. Many implanted women have experienced this. I suffered from visual disturbances, burning eyes and a general feeling that something was not quite right with my eyes, but have never found anything positive, except for Hashimoto's autoimmune thyroid disease. It could be from that in my case. The cause? Probably your implants. The disease? Another of those unknowns....as so many of our symptoms are. All we know is that we've experienced sickness.... Let us know what you find out. Hugs, Patty > I was wondering if any of you experience really dry eyes. Guest guest
I developed dry eyes about 2 yrs ago. Every once in a while I have a flareup and sometimes it's worse than others....the doctor finally dx'd it as Blepharitis. I started losing eyelashes as well, now it seems more controlled. I have to wash my lids with baby shampoo or some gel morning and night. This is something I developed as well post implants and post hashimotos dx in 2002. > I was wondering if any of you experience really dry eyes. Guest guest
- Lynda I agree. It is also of interest to me that Sjorgen syndrome is also something that responds quite nicely to the antibiotic therapy. Which would lead one to believe that autoimmune eye dryness is probably caused by pathogens also. Which is where detoxification would help. One of the many symptoms i had was eye irritation and dryness as well as flashes of light. Also, my body got extremely dry everywhere inside and out. my fingertips had no moisture at all. That is one of the first things that antibiotic therapy has helped me with and has never come back. Guest guest
Interesting, but I know of no antibiotic I can take, so it is not a solution for me. I do believe detoxing is one of the best solutions for many health problems, but it is not for the unmotivated. It takes a lot of work. Lynda At 08:40 PM 5/5/2005, you wrote: >- > >Lynda >I agree. Guest guest
My eyes became really dry after about 6 years, same as you, with implants. My eye doctor advised me to put a warm compress on my eyes in the morning and at night for about a month then just once a day. My eyes do feel better when I do this. --- zellysmada <zellysmada@...> wrote: > How long after your breast implant surgery did you > experience dry > eyes?
