Hi Kristy,

I'm having trouble finding out where I need to fill out information to be

included on the mailing list. I already get all the posting (e-mails), so I

thought I was a member, but when I go to the website and click on " join the

mailing list " , it appears to enroll me in the group. (as if I were never a

member). Help!

Thanks, (mother of Annie, 20 years old July 16)

Hey , I was just thinking of you tonight and wondering how Annie was doing! I hope that all is well and I will ask for special blessings on your family tonight as I lay down to sleep for whatever special needs you may be having. It is too much of a coincidence that thoughts of you were really weighing on me tonight and then here is a message from you. Bless You, Barb Martz Mom to Jonas 1 1/2 (MDS) & 7 Re: IMDSA Mailing list Hi Kristy, I'm having trouble finding out where I need to fill out information to beincluded on the mailing list. Hi Barb,

Thanks for your e-mail. I couldn't believe it when you said you'd be

keeping my family in your prayers and that we have been on your mind.

Because, it's true, our family could use your extra prayers right now. My

husband's brother Tom passed away in June. He had lung cancer and we knew

the prognosis was not good, but he went so fast. He was only 52. It has hit

Jim (my husband) very hard because they were close. To make matters worse,

his other brother Rob, was diagnosed with colon cancer about two months ago.

He is having alot of trouble healing from the initial surgery and is still

not able to eat. The doctors are not sure if he will ever be able to again.

We have spent nearly the whole summer on the road, visiting and attending

the funeral and such. Things are actually beginning to get somewhat back to

normal for us. So, as you can see, we need lots of prayer right now. We

have felt God's love and care throughout this ordeal and we are very thankful

that Rob has turned to God for the first time in his life. Actually, we

began to see him turning to God for several months before he was diagnosed,

and he has found much peace through it all.

Annie is doing well right now. She has been hanging out with me this

summer. (I'm off because I'm a teacher). In a few weeks, she will be

returning to the community center where she had so much trouble with paranoia

before. We are praying she will have a better stint this time. We know of

no other place for her to go at this point. Her illness has been less

disruptive this summer, but it's most likely due to the very low stress and

expectations she has had. The doctor says she is on as much medicine as she

can safely take, so this may be as good as it gets. We still pray for a

miracle.

Man, this e-mail is mighty depressing. I didn't mean it to be.....I'm

just so thankful for your concern and prayers and I wanted to update you on

all that's going on. Sounds as if you have some pretty big things going on

right now too. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers. I saw where you

were going to a NC beach for vacation. (that was you wasn't it?) Anyway, it

kills me because you were so close. We live in Durham, NC. I'd love to meet

you. Don't you feel such a connection to the people in the group that you'd

like to meet them personally? Every time I hear someone's going to be close

by, I want to run right out and say " Hey " .

Well, I'd better go. Annie wants to go to Staples and get a folder.

She has written some long (and I mean long!) novel or something and wants to

put it in a folder. I tried to read it, but it was very complex.

(unorganized and hard to follow.)

Talk to you later. And thanks again for thinking of us.

,

I will send your problem to , our listserv, and

see if she can answer your question. I am clueless to

these kind of things! LOL I think if you fill out the

" information sheet " at the bottom of the page in the

middle it will get you on our mailing list. When you

click " join our mailing list " it takes you to our

e-group. So, let me forward this and hopefully

can help you.

Kristy-

I have gone to the mosiac down dymdrome site and put my name on the mailing list and I joined IMDSA. I wanted to make sure that you had our name: APPLEN. We are very interested in attending the convention.

Thanks!Lynn Applen applen8@... Cell: 730 8380 Home: 608 0861

Kirsty and Craig,

we are trying to get rates for travel for the

convention. I will have someone check into Amtrack,

but, flying from LA to Florida may be a quicker

option.

Lynn, Did you fill out the "information sheet" at the bottom of the web site? I will make a note that you are interested in the convention. Thank you for joining IMDSA.

the convention is October 31, to Nov 2, 2003 in Kissimmee, Florida

(a suburb of Orlando). More info on convention will be posted on web by

November 2002, I hope. Sharon Wilt, convention chairperson

Hello

My name is . I too am interested in

going to the convention, however, I have seen

conflicting information regarding the dates. Is the

conference October, 2003 or 2002?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Hi

As Sharon has said the first MDS convention will be in October/November

2003. The web page has a typo on it. Sorry about that.

When people were originally registering an interest in the convention, I

made it clear that it was 2003 and not 2002. We have had more than 60

families registering an interest in attending the convention and they have

all received e-mails enquiring about different needs. There have been quite

a few new parents on here recently and they may not know what they need to

do to register their interest in attending the convention. Well can I

suggest that they let Sharon Wilt (slwiltjmj@...) know of their

requirements as detailed below. Sharon has recently taken over the reins as

Chair of the Convention Committee from myself (the hotel needed someone in

the USA to deal with) and we have regular convention meetings to discuss and

agree the detail of the convention. Some of the early chats are still on the

website. It is hoped to release more details of the convention in the near

future.

Anyway, these are the details you need to give Sharon:

a) Are you interested in attending the MDS convention in 2003 ?

B) if so, how many rooms would you require (based on four people per room ie

two double beds) ?

c) how many people will be in your party (adults and children) ?

d) how many cots/cribs would you require ?

e) would you be interested in attending the Disney (and other) parks as part

of the group (assuming we can obtain discounts) ?

f) do any of your party have special dietary needs ?

Hope this helps.
