A dear friend of mine, also a herbalist, calls Rd a " cuddle in a bottle " which I think is a great description. I use the tr in all the situations that have already been mentioned. I give the AW sometimes on its own, sometimes in a mixture with another AW, often Lavender, for people to sip during the day as needed. I find it great in depression and anxiety, particularly good for women with menopausal symptoms. In the latter case I'll often give it in a spritzer bottle to be sprayed over face and neck during hot sweats - it's really effective, particularly for those women who's sweats are exacerbated by stress. I'm also trying this herb (tr in the Rx and as AW to sip at night) for an elderly woman who is depressed and anxious - she came to see me a couple of months ago, main Sx sore and burning tongue. Someone asked about this Sx on the list a while ago and I've been meaning to reply with my experiences of this. The research I've done on this suggests that if all blood tests come back ok it's often treated as a Sx of depression and anti deps are given. This was the case with this lady who had loads of side effects from the anti deps so stopped taking them. When she came to me she was very anxious and said that she had always been an anxious person inclined to worry about everything. I've tried mucuous membrane toning and healing herbs, herbs to improve digestive function, considered the possibility of vitamin/min deficiencies - but have now decided to concentrate on adaptogens and herbs to support the nervous system as her anxiety and now depression are coming more to the fore. She's gradually told me more and more about her family situation and history and it's obvious now that this is where I need to concentrate - Rose d. is central to the tx at the moment and I'll let you know how she gets on.
