Guest guest
Hello Helen Re your tired patients - an excellent read is Budd's 'Why Am I So Tired?', subtitled 'Is Your thyroid Making You Ill?' It's easy to get hold of, I got my copy from W.H. 's recently. It does a good job too explaining why people with 'normal' thyroid tests can need nutritional and herbal thyroid support, and just how massively under-diagnosed mild hypothyroidism is. He says that the test (axilla temp. taken for 10 mins first thing a.m.) is very useful when taken in wider context of symptoms, constitution, history etc. Also, I have seen a few patients and a colleague with viral symptoms including a drugged-like tiredness. The natural course of it seems to be 2-3 weeks. Helen Duxbury Pcos > Hello > I have a patient with pcos and she is asking about dietary advice. She would > be willing to do anything. Guest guest
I'm a bit wary of old Budd since I've seen a couple of patients who had been to see him. He prescribed very expensive thyroid supplements (including squashed cow thyroid - yeuchhh) and they didn't feel better. One had a history that lead me to treat for mild depression, which worked like a charm and another responded to dietary advice and giving up caffeine, along with liver herbs. I think he seems to be a case of sometimes when you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail... love, Sara Re: Pcos Hello Helen Re your tired patients - an excellent read is Budd's 'Why Am I So Tired?', subtitled 'Is Your thyroid Making You Ill?' Guest guest
Hi All I've promised the editor of " In Touch " (the magazine for Verity the PCOS self-help group) an article on the treatment of PCOS. I wonder if those of you with a particular interest in this condition would like to contact me off list so that we can pool our experiences. Maybe we could expand this into an article for EJHM or BJP. Also is anyone else using Epilobium with this condition? Cheers Graham White B.Sc. (Herb. Med.), MNIMH.
