Sent: Tuesday, March 05, 2002 9:57 AM Subject: Re: Dow Corning as to be Corporate " Model " on handling Crises???????? Dear Ms Gorney: Boy, would I love to spend an evening with . He would have to do some fast talking to explain why his company has gone unpunished for what it has done to so many women worldwide, and for the destruction of families, and for their hunting down and eradicating prominent physicians and scientists working on the women's behalf, and the list goes on. Their implants ruptured in my body and ruined my life, and up to now they have got away with it. This man has no conscience; this is quite obvious. I'm sure that we would all love to be able to attend a black tie dinner; however, most of us can't even get out of our beds to go out for just a normal dinner...thanks to Dow Corning, Dow Chemical, Bristol-Myers Squibb, and all the other rotten manufacturers! They are celebrating the destruction of our lives, and there is nothing that we can do to stop this kind of propaganda. They will eat, drink, and be happy because they think that they have escaped any responsibility. But we have news for them. Despite their efforts, this war is just getting started. We know that there are some underground groups working on this medical disaster. It's just a matter of time. If I were Dow Corning, I wouldn't become too complacent. The human face of this tragedy is everywhere. Last night, for example, I went to spend the evening with my sister. Shortly after sitting in a comfortable chair, my pain started. My face became severely flushed because I was out of my comfort zone. My sister could see that I was suffering, but there was nothing that she could do to comfort me. After half an hour, she had to call my husband to come to pick me up. Sitting just kills me because my chest wall is so damaged...thanks to Dow Corning! My left arm and shoulder were so painful that I could hardly wait to get home and to get back into my bed. When I tell my husband that I feel as if I'm in prison, he always says that he understands completely, but at least it is a comfortable one. He makes sure that I'm surrounded with beautiful things. I, too, have lost most everything: my health, my career, my zest for life, my independence and my precious children. Dow Corning really has done a good job with their $ millions to make all women appear to be a bunch of loonies. Because of them, many people really believe that breast implants are safe, and that we have destroyed poor Dow Corning's reputation. Yet, a quick look at the company's own documents--made public by US court order--shows unequivocally that they knew all along that their product was deadly...and they sold it anyway! Ask to speak to that on March 8! This visit can only harm Lehigh University's reputation. Usually, I sign off with some cheerful salutation, but how can I when I feel such betrayal and contempt for all involved in this travesty...with disgust...
