Hey ,

Thanks for sharing, I'll have to take out my book and check it out.

Mind you it's thanks to a friend here who was nice enough to finally

copy the index of the book for me b/c I asked here several times and

no one offered. Is that nice? I start this group, get everyone

together and not one person who had the book wanted to copy a few

pages for me even when I offered to pay for the copies? Is the

Jewish guilt working??????????

Reggie,

I always wished for the type of metabolism where I could eat

anything and still be thin, but I have a different lesson to learn

in life I suppose. But besides the obvious physical benefits of

maintaining an odeal weight, it's really beneficial for my mind and

emotional state. I could be totally bummed out about something, step

onto my yoga mat, and then one hour later be completely transformed

and refreshed.

I used to swim a lot too when I lived in Idaho and Alaska. It's

extremely meditative. In Idaho, I would walk from my apt. in the

cold cold snowy winter over to the pool on a Saturday evening when

most people were out partying. The pool was virtually empty and

they would turn off all the overhead lights so we only had the pool

light on underneath. It was like being in the womb. I loved it.

Then I moved to Oregon where the pool was always busy and I gave up

fighting people for space.

I'm talking about Aveline Kushi's Complete Guide to Macrobiotic

Cooking. I thought going a bit more standard would center me

instead of eating wider things such as from my other wider macro

cookbooks. Maybe it's just the eating out thing? Suddenly too, I'm

so drawn back to baked flour (a bit better now) but also sweets in

general. Sigh! I'm thinking about taking a week or two to write

down things in a food journal to get a handle on all the

emotional/physical stuff.

Hey, at least Bruce is gone! Does that help?

Usually, I'm having fun being busy! During cooking lessons,

potlucks, and other events, I'm living in the moment really focused

on everything happening for the students. But because I'm working

at 4 different places right now, sometimes details slip through the

memory banks into limbo, somehow erased. I could use a lot more

sleep and sometimes find myself a bit tired. I'm trying to balance

the work with rest and relaxation so that I don't get too yang, but

I'm feeling really driven in these early stages of developing a

macrobiotic community here. I probably couldnt do 1/2 of this unless

I did maintain a macrobiotic wholefoods diet.

At our last potluck, some vegan people confessed to feeling really

shy about group introductions. I could relate to their feelings of

shyness and embarrassment. I was really gleeful actually to feel

confident enough to be the spokesperson and to announce everything

without feeling nervous. It was fun to find new people in the room

who came in late and introduce myself to them. It's a whole new me

really.

I'm glad your fast went well and that you're feeling a bit better.

Maybe the reaction you're having is a healing reaction?

Take care,
