Guest guest
Hi dirkse.i have had the same emotional blunting. For 7 months. than i started requip not long after i began the requip the blunding slowley go away. When i stop the requip the blunding will come back a little again. So i am now still on the requip. Butstill no seks feeling and not able to cry. I am on requip from december 2010. Why dont you visit marcel waldinger in the netherlands? You from flandres right? - In SSRIsex , " Dirkske " wrote: > > Yes I do have emotional blunting, so badly that I even don't feel my emotions annymore. Nothing. Even anxiety and stress I don't feel annymore, but it's there, cause it affects my functioning and makes me grind my teeth and be verry uncomferable. It gotten much worse after abusing ritalin (it initially helped a lot). > I have a parkinson-pale like face. I did a NMR-scan and a neuro-SPECT scan, the most sensitive scan there exist. They injected me with a radio-active tracer. Guest guest
So its not the setotine but the dopamine. Did they look at your dopamine? > > > > > > Hi evrybody, > > > I went to a neurologist to do a complete brain check. I did a NMR-scan and a neuro-SPECT scan, the most sensitive scan there exist. Guest guest
No, they did not look at my dopamine. For this they should use a tracer that connects to DAT. For serotonin to SERT. I think these tracers are really expensive and are only used in pharmaceutical companies for drug design or research into various deseases like parkinson. The only thing they looked at is my brain activity, and did also an EEG. This showed that my frontal cortex isn't as active as it should be. When I was a kid, I did a simular test and showed normal activity. This was what I expected, as the frontal cortex has lots of dopamine receptors and is the most sensitive part of the brain. It regulates emotions (controlling them) and is the center of our personallity (blunted affect is less dopamine in that area), fine motor tuning, sex drive (left part inhibits, right part activates it, that's why frontal lobe inguries cause decreased or inapropiate sex drive)... All things I have problems with. Various research into MDMA (XTC) showed that axons were distroyed, did grow back, but didn't reach the frontal cortex (it's the part of the brain far away from the Raphe Nuclei, the brain's serotonin center). What did happen is that the remaining axons worked harder, making more branches in frontal cortex, so there is some kind of recovery. My guess is in this that people who are not so badly affected can reach full recovery, others only some part of recovery. Also some parts of the brain got a whole lot more serotonin axons. In my case it's the dopamine & serotonin system that is not working. > > > > > > > > Hi evrybody, > > > > I went to a neurologist to do a complete brain check. Guest guest
What dose of requip are you on? I tried 1mg for several days and then stopped, didn't notice much. Maybe I should tried it a bit longer? I do know that amphetamine reverses the blunting emediatly. When you have an anxiety disorder it's stupid to take that, if you're feeling okay, it's a good thing. But I think in the long-term it's more damaging. > > > > > > > > Hi evrybody, > > > > I went to a neurologist to do a complete brain check. Guest guest
The frontal cortex is most affected by SSRI & NDRI use, it is the place of higher mental functions. This program can test this area of the brain: http://www.millisecond.com/download/default.aspx (download inquisit 3) then download this: http://www.millisecond.com/download/samples/v3/CardSort/default.aspx (unzip and open with inquisit) I used to be able to do this easily, now I have great problems with it.
