Guest guest
<< Can anyone tell me if these buses have car seats for the young ones on them? >> Barb - My daughter has been in a PA-EI-Pre-School since she turned 3 (Feb 2002) - the bus that they refer to is a van that picks the kids up each morning and drops them off each morning as well. It is equipped with car seats. The Pre-School is only 7:30 - 11:30 Monday - Thursday. Each county is different but my two kids now go to different schools since EI is only at one area school. If you have any questions I could definitely help regarding the EI transition in PA. Darlene
Guest guest
Darlene, I thank you so much for the information. Like someone recently told me, " one more thing off the Mommy worry list " ! I have just about the same situation for the EI preschool I think regarding the frequency etc. I know that right now I have two choices, in our Intermediate Unit's School graphic area. The one closest to home by about 5 miles is an older facility than the other one, but a really great lady from my church works at it, and if Jonas is going to go, it would be great for him to see her each day. She is a terrific lady, and has been regularly stealing Jonas from me at the church since he was 5 lbs. (With full assurances that she had no cold, and would not hand him off to anyone else!) I guess she knew what was on my mind that first winter when he was a premature, infant with a heart problem. I made the children in the family or anyone who had the least idea they were sick wear masks, scrub their hands well with a brush and antibacterial soap etc. I am so happy to hear that the vans come equipped with car seats for the young ones. I did not realize that the van picked them up and dropped them off both. I am trying to figure out how I am going to bear up when he is only 3 years old sending him alone on a van (without me, that is). It sort of feels like I am sending him off to Kindergarten 2 years early. I will likely be coming back to you for more information before another year is quite past Darlene, Thank You! Guest guest
The public school system here does not send vans to transport to Child Development. The toddlers use the same bus system that the schoolagers use with no car seats. It may be different in other areas, but that is why I am hesitant to send who will be turning three on Wednesday. mother to (MDS)
Guest guest
If that is the case, I would drive him to school. Guest guest
Where are you from? I can't remember the geography of this entire group very well anymore. Now the regular school bus, that is really scarey with no car seats. God Bless You! Barb Martz MOM to Jonas 22 mo. She was home based until just before her first birthday. Once she could crawl away from the therapists she decided she didn't want to work on her home turf anymore. With that in mind, I put her on the bus just a few weeks shy of her first birthday. The first week or so, I rode the bus with her. It was a mini-bus and had car seats for the children (you can make sure your child has a car seat by having it written in their IEPs). I was blessed with a wonderful bus driver and matron who looked after the children. Having come to trust the driver and matron and fully believing that the school I was sending her to (45 minute drive from home) was the best place for her to learn, I tearfully put my baby on the bus. Just knowing it was the best thing I could do for her made it easier to let her go so far from home without me. I guess we find ways to do what is best for our kids even when it tears at your heart strings a bit. I think I actually worried about her more when I put her on the kindergarten bus and I only live a few blocks from the elementary school. ann (Mom to who will be 9 years old on Sunday!)
