Guest guest
Hi: I am very new to the site but need some advice. For background, I was implanted with saline implants 14 months ago (Mentor round high profile 310cc under muscle). About 8 months ago I started having autoimmune problems. I have recently been diagnosed with aggressive Rheumatoid Arthritis and am also having many other symptoms (memory problems, hair loss, etc) Anyway my original PS is going to do an explant with capsulectomy next week (May 3rd). He has been sooooo supportive and caring and is even doing it for just what my insurance will cover (no out-of-pocket cost to me. I have 3 small children and he knows I need to reclaim my body and my health. Anyway, can anyone give me some quick advice about possbily what I can do to help surgery and speed recovery? Are there any foods/vitamins/supplements that I should take or avoid? How about after? How would I begin to detox my body and start to become healthy again. I don't want to rely on these prescription drugs for the rest of my life. Has anyone had trouble finding bras to wear post-op? I already have to avoid underwire because they rub on my scars, but I have such little breast tissue that I will be virtually flat after surgery. Has anyone ever tried those inserts that you can put in your bra? Any info. would help so much. My husband and I are both so overwhelmed right now at how things turned out. I am only 29 years old and I feel over twice that age. Thanks for listening, Shana
Guest guest
Shana, Welcome to the group. I wish you didn't need to be here . . . But you're in the right place! I'm so glad you figured out the connection between your implants and your health issues sooner rather than later. It's also incredible you have a cooperative plastic surgeon. Most of them poo-poo the relationship and don't want to remove the capsules! You're a very lucky lady! I would ask you doctor to remove the capsules with the implants still inside - if they're saline, it should be easy enough to drain them via a needle before cutting around the capsule. The idea is to avoid spilling any contaminated implant contents into your chest cavity. Also, ask the doctor to put in drains in case there is a fluid accumulation following surgery. This isn't always necessary, but it's a simple way to prevent possible problems. As to a bra after surgery, you will probably leave the OR with your chest wrapped. After the bandages come off, wear a snug, but comfortable sports bra 24/7 until healing is well underway. The idea is to make any internal scar tissue work for you. Even if you are flat (or concave) after surgery, you will begin " fluffing " in the following months. By the time you are ready for a regular bra, you'll find there are lots of cute bras that can hold inserts. Just one note of caution . . . NEVER allow silicone inserts to touch your bare skin. Most women who have had breast implants also have a systemic yeast/fungal problem. This may be because the implant was contaminated. There are a number of books on treating systemic Candida that will explain how to manage the problem better than we can messages. Essentially what you will need is an anti-fungal, and then some probiotics. We've found that Garden of Life products are excellent. I'd suggest taking one bottle of Fungal Defense (lasts two weeks if directions are followed) then Primal Defense for at least several months. This needs to be accompanied by a diet that eliminates sugar completely since sugar feeds these organisms. Eliminate refined grains (or eat a minimum of them) and processed foods too. If you can go organic completely, you'll do much better. www.appleadayandbeyond.com has the best prices (be sure to use their 10% off coupon). Their book " The Maker's Diet is a good outline for the diet. Also . . . very important . . . drink at least 1/2 ounce of pure water (non-chlorinated) for every pound of body weight. As you start flushing toxins, you must drink plenty of water. This is probably as far as you'll get before getting your implants out. If you click on the first link below, you'll find a section for Healing Therapies that women here have tried and found successful. The group of women here are incredible. They understand what you're going through. If you have any concerns, let us know. We've seen many, many women go through what you're going through - many of them aren't posting often because they're too busy living again! The good news is that you can get your health back, and life will be good again. God Bless, Rogene
Guest guest
I just wanted to welcome you to our group. Your story is a very familar one. We are hearing from more and more women everyday who have had breast implants only for a short while and are now developing autoimmune diseases and symptoms. I am so glad that you are having them out. Please make sure your ps is actually going to take out the capsules. we have had other women on this site who were told this and then it didn't happen. You need to make it abundantly clear that he remove the capsule--all of it or as much as he possibly can. Get it in writing if possible. Doctors say one thing and do another very often. Then, when the surgery is over with, they make up some excuse like it looked fine, he thought it was so thin it could just be reabsorbed, etc. If he sees how thoroughly adamant that you are, he will be less likely to change his mind once he is in there. Drains are very important. There is less swelling and faster healing. ONce the implants are out, it is important to keep the breasts compressed so that the pocket that is left from where the implants were closes up nicely. After surgery, there are many things you can do to speed recovery. Many are talked about here in our files section and also you read about alot of this by going back through the posts. It is a subject that is talked about constantly. YOu will find the women here are fantastic, very supportive and very compassionate and have alot of good advice. So please feel free to post any questions or thoughts or feelings you might want to share. kathy > > Hi: > I am very new to the site but need some advice. Guest guest
Shana, Rogene is so right!I have been explanted now for about 2 and a half years and have my life back. I hardly ever psot here and feel guilty about, but I am so busy living now! I work part time, help with my hubby's business, have new house with all sorts of new decorating, and landscaping to keep up with, and have a 4 year old to tend to! I will tell you, explant- Best decision I ever made! Even if it was against what all others told me, including specialists and docs. I was so so ill. I risked it all, spent the money, traveled 15 hours by car....And am now, after removal, a great cleansing diet (including ridding of food allergies) and some detox, I am happily 28 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child. Perfect pregancy. Not bad for a once 26 year old with thyroid disease ,rhuematoid arthrtis and ms like symptoms! I no longer have those issues, only the thyroid and that has improved! Getting pregnant was a gift to myself for making it through and getting better! I worked so hard to get here. I feel great and have all my energy back! And my breasts look almost scar free, pretty and natural! Thanks to this group and Patty and Rogene, I made the perfect choices in getting them out, capsules and ps,ect and couldnt be happier! Tips? Guest guest
Liz, my "Ms symtpoms" were paraylsis of the left side of face (bels pasly) , later then numbness and tingling on one side like my leg and face, extremely numb foot, staggered gate, headaches and dizzy spells. I was tested with nerve conduction tests and also MRI's. Nothing. I also had heavy feelings in my legs and arms and felt very tired. I was told once I had fibro by having 6 of the tender points, and also had muscle spasm's in the legs. I feel that had alot to do with undertreated thyroid though. I would say, I felt the ms symptoms go the very last, and the fatigue, muscle twiches, dizziness and joint pain right away after explant, like within months Love >From: Hogg <elizabethhogg@...> >Reply- > >Subject: Re: Need Advice Regarding Explant!! >Date: Thu, 28 Apr 2005 11:57:06 -0700 (PDT) > >when you say ms like symptoms what do you mean? did you have muscle pain at all like a fibromyalgia symptoms? in different places? now they are all gone? how long did it take for your symptoms to go away? > >liz > >JOSEPH PALANCA <juliejp61@...> wrote: > >Shana, Rogene is so right!I have been explanted now for about 2 and a half years and have my life back.
