Guest guest
Yo! Merry! Thanks! Do you mean the Great American Wine Festival at the Desmond, which corresponds with the ancient February religious observance of Dionysus? I always go on the opening Friday night, as it is one huge ecstatic celebration ending with the abandoned midnight gourmet feast in the main ballroom. I love the civility of it all juxtaposed against its unconscious, Eden-like setting. Everybody is dressed to the nines and at the same time crushed together like sardines in a Titanic-sized hotel awash in fine wine and gourmet food. I set out to drink 100 different wines, but always get ravenous after about 50. I crash there and go home on Saturday morning, with my head only slightly smarting, not bashed in like at Altamont. (Saturday and Sunday get a little too cerebral for me with the auctions and lectures.) To me, the event beautifully symbolizes the ego in balance with the ecstatic principle. If you ever decide to go on a Friday, we can pick a time and spot to meet, such as 8:00 pm at the fireplace in the main lobby. Cov Re: Yo! Cov! >Cov! > >So nice to see you posting here.
