Guest guest
Dearest Beth; My ANA was 1:40 and that was a positive for lupus in 1992. Sometimes my ANA is not positive, but my doctor claims that it does not mean that I do not have lupus. I really believe that as we heal the lupus will go away, not in my case. My ANA is usually around 1:80 and I do have all of the symptoms. Mine is systemic, not discoid. I do not have a rash; however, I do have the butterfly mask. I agree that the explanted breast implants and capsules be sent directly from pathology to Dr. Blais. We have sent many from our home, but this not a good idea. Guest guest
Hi Lea, When I was diagnosed with Fibro 12 years ago my ANA tested at 1:40 and two years later at 1:80. This was not considered positive for Lupus though. Other tests were done and were negative, can’t remember what they were. Did you have specific tests for Lupus or were you diagnosed based on ANA and symptoms? My ANA is negative now. Don’t know what the trigger for the positive ANA in my case was. Sure wish I did. Kenda Dearest Beth; My ANA was 1:40 and that was a positive for lupus in 1992. Sometimes my ANA is not positive, but my doctor claims that it does not mean that I do not have lupus. Guest guest
Kenda, Didn't you say your symptoms started after you did some cleaning with ammonia? Could that have been the trigger? . . . Have you asked Dr. Leu about it? Hugs, Rogene
Guest guest
Hi Rogene, The ammonia use was several years prior to the positive ANA or my being sick. It could have been a trigger, I don’t know. I haven’t seen Dr. Leu since I first remembered the ammonia poisoning. I did have Interstitial Cystitis, IB and terrible allergies prior to Fibro so I already had health issues. I still have the IC but it’s 95% better than it was. The Fibro and IB are both gone, allergies are usually very mild — but not this year. I am wondering if pregnancies were my trigger. I was totally wiped out after my second pregnancy. I breastfed my son (1st) for 13 months and weaned my daughter (2nd) at 8 months because I couldn’t keep weight on. My body seemed to go wacky after that pregnancy. My metabolism started zooming and I developed hyperthyroid. Now my thyroid is hypo, which is typical of hyperthyroid. My weight has finally increased but it’s due to diet changes rather than my metabolism slowing down. If I eat several times a day, I can maintain 100 pounds. Kenda Kenda, Didn't you say your symptoms started after you did some cleaning with ammonia? Could that have been the trigger? . . . Have you asked Dr. Leu about it? Guest guest
Honey, my doctor took a biopsy of my skin. I'm not sure what he was testing me for, but I thought it was for lupus or scleroderma. I will have to look at my files, but my rheumatologist told me that I do have lupus. When I was in hospital, they did every test that you could think of. I'm not sure what I have anymore, I just want to be me again. Do you have gastrointestinal problems, this one sure symptom of lupus. Brain fog is another deadly symptom of lupus and I used to have the worst brain fog, but that symptom is gone. Many people have lupus and they have never had breast implants. This is one of the diseases that has remained a mystery for years. The same goes for fibromyalgia, it has been around for hundreds of years. Medicine is a mystery. Guest guest
Hi Lea, Yes, I have gastro problems. I had a pancreatitis attack two years ago. I drink very little alcohol, the main cause of pancreatitis. The gastro labeled my attack as idiopathic because he could find no cause for it. I am convinced it was liver sludge because he couldn’t see stones on any of the tests or an endoscopy. I spent hundreds of hours on the internet researching treatments for pancreatitis because the only treatment given me was removal of my gallbladder for a possible improvement in symptoms. Possible improvement wasn’t good enough for removing body parts. I told him if he could prove to me that my gallbladder was diseased, he could have it, if not, I was keeping it! So he sent me on my way. I found a couple of protocols used in Europe. One involved using bile salts to dissolve sludge, the other was high doses of antioxidants. Dr. Leu put together my treatment plan and a few months after, I was pronounced cured by my gastro after my first normal amylase test. I have had two more normal tests since and am still symptom free. I had IB symptoms years ago but that was before I changed my diet around. Now that I eat healthfully, I don’t have IB problems. The only time I have experienced severe brain fog was when I was eating fish most every day of the week. Dr. Leu and I believe I likely had mercury poisoning from all of the fish. I didn’t eat beef for four years and only ate fish and chicken -- mostly fish. I became anemic and Dr. Leu insisted I start eating beef again because the iron supplements weren’t bringing up my iron levels enough. Once I stopped eating so much fish, the fog went away entirely. I had just begun treating with Dr. Leu at that time so he didn’t know that I was eating so much fish. He told me that he would prefer me to take a fish oil supplement than eat fish regularly. The recommendation is that pregnant women eat some types of fish no more often than once per month. It his opinion that we all ought to follow those guidelines unless the fish are caught in very deep waters. When my liver has been toxic, it does seem like I am spacey but nothing like the mercury brain fog. Lea, I truly hope and pray that you find relief from all of the pain you have suffered. When I read your bio it was the first time that I realized just how sick some of you have become. It absolutely breaks my heart. A funny thing happened today. I had to see my endodontist today regarding a root canal I had done 6 months ago. She leaned her breast up against my head to do the exam. Geez, those were some firm very large breasts!!! Of course they are saline. They didn’t even feel like breasts. To think, I almost had some of those firm breasts too! Take care, Kenda Honey, my doctor took a biopsy of my skin. I'm not sure what he was testing me for, but I thought it was for lupus or scleroderma. I will have to look at my files, but my rheumatologist told me that I do have lupus. Guest guest
Lea Have you ever tried essiac tea? I know a woman with lupus who says this really helped. Also, she tried the antibiotic therapy--minocin and even though she is on really low doses, it has given her life back. I know of at least a few women with sle that are now doing very well due to taking minocin. It sounds like the symptoms you described earlier are part of sle then. I was diagnosed with mctd with mainly lupus overlap. A lady I met on the rheumatic board told me that she had all my weird symtpoms--and the ones you described. She had lupus and did very well on minocin too. YOu said that you are always on antibiotics, what kind? ONly certainkinds are used for the antibiotic protocol. Also your doctor is correct insaying that a negative ana doesn't mean you dont' have lupus anymore. In fact, you can have a negative ana and have any autoimmune disease. However, people with lupus who have had positive ana's usually fluctuate their ANA according to the waxing and waning of their disease. Guest guest
Dearest Kathy: I have not tried this tea, but I will try it to see if it helps. loves tea, but I drink milk water and coffee only in the morning. Thank you, you are so sweet. When I had a positive for R/A my doctor got so excited, he slapped his knee. He knew that I had it, but when he got the results he was happy. It is so difficult to get proper testing. I do take a lot of antibiotics and that is why I'm still here. We are trying to stop, but this is a slow process. Love you...Lea ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~````` Re: : 's ANA > > Lea > Have you ever tried essiac tea? I know a woman with lupus who says > this really helped.
