Guest guest
Hi Kenda, I spoke to several attorneys and people regarding this issue. They all said the same thing. Tell your Mother to run for the hills. Get the hell out of there as soon as possible. Power happy people always get on the board and they can make ANY rule they want. If they like you they don't inforce it and if they don't you are screwed. Nothing that any attorney can do. It is like fighting city hall! My Mom has been living here for 16 years. There are very few original people left. Everybody moved out because of the problems around here. This is the first time she has encountered this type of thing. She usually just minds her own business and doesn't mingle with anyone. She is old and doesn't want to move. A few years back, a kid came back from college with a dog. He was only going to stay for the summer and then go back to school. They told him to take the dog to a kennel for the entire summer. When he tried to attend one of the meetings asking the residents if they minded him with the dog, the president of the board grabbed his arm, pulled him outside and locked the door so that he couldn't get back in. He went around and asked everyone to sign a paper for the people that didn't mind him having the dog. It didn't matter. Beth S.Kenda Skaggs <kdskaggs@...> wrote: Hi Beth,I can see where they can make rules where dogs cannot be on the public grounds. I can’t for the life of me see where they can decide whether or not you can have a pet indoors, especially after the sale. Can your attorney write them a letter challenging their rules?Kenda Hi Kenda, No. Most people in the condos do not like animals. Alot of old people around here. When my Mom first purchased the condo, you were able to have dogs but an ass got on the condo board and changed the rules for everyone. It really makes the value of her condo go way down since most people have a dog. I'm told that legally they can do anything they want. They have set the rules. Some people can break them (people on the board) nothing is said and nothing can be done about it. I have spoken to an attorney about the situation and he said that his advise would be for my Mom to sell and run for the hills as soon as possible. However, she is 80 years old, has a beautiful river view and is not willing to give it up. Beth S.Kenda Skaggs <kdskaggs@...> wrote: Hi Beth,Are there other people in your same situation? If so, they can‚t make make an example of you by forcing you to get rid of your dogs, everyone else has to do so as well. Also, is there any paper work that your mother signed or that was given to her stating that she couldn‚t have dogs and the consequence of having them? I have to wonder how they can enforce the $100 a day rule. Finally, I doubt they can legally give you one week‚s time to do anything, it is far from reasonable. I hope you get everything figured out in your favor. How absurd of them to get after you when you have been no problem. Do you have any attorneys that are friends? I‚d call them if you do.Good luck. :)Kenda Hi Everyone, I finally got to the gym this week. I haven't exercised since before explant and then sat in the sauna for about 7 minutes. Much better than my last experience. I must have been in too long. Anyway, I do all of this so that I can start to feel better just to get a note in my door about my dogs. My Mom lives in a condo and they do not allow dogs. The surrounding apartments do. So dogs are all over the place. I was told that my dogs must be removed from the premises by April 28th. How the hell do you find a home for two dogs in a week? Not to mention the emotional toll it will take on me. I was told that if they are not removed within that time, I would be fined $100 A DAY and if I don't pay, legal action will be taken. I will be responsible for all legal fees also. I became s ick immediately. I was unable to sleep all night last night and when I woke up, the puffiness I had before explant was back in my face. My Mother said that it was so bad that my upper lip looked like it was stretched tight. I DON'T EVEN WALK MY DOGS ON THE GROUNDS. I PUT THEM IN THE CAR EVERY MORNING AND DRIVE THEM DOWN TO A NEARBY PARK! I SLEEP WITH THEM ALL AFTERNOON AND THEN AT DINNER TIME THEY GO OUT AND I ONLY LET THEM GO RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY MOM'S PATIO AREA. THIS IS WHILE EVERYONE ELSE IS WALKING THEIR DOGS FREELY. THEY RENT WE OWN. MAKES ALOT OF SENSE DOESN'T IT!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????? To make a long story short, I tried contacting the ass that wrote the letter to me but he didn't answer his door or phone. I was ready to kill him! Everyone around here knows I'm with my Mom because I'm ill. This morning I spoke to someone in the office about it and he said to write a letter asking for an extension as I will probably (pray for me!) be out of here by September! If anyone is considering living in a condo DON'T! It is a living hell! I'm not sure how to get better when I'm constantly under stress. I love my dogs dearly and they are all I have left. I do not plan on giving them up. If I have to live in a car I will! Beth S.__________________________________________________
Guest guest
Kenda, I live in Philadelphia. I don't think anyone in this group lives close to me. Nice thought though. I've called a rescue group. I have an Italian Greyhound. Couldn't find an Italian Greyhound group in my area so I called a regular greyhound group. They told me flat out NO! This really surprised me. It makes me wonder how much these people really love animals. I also have a Tox Fox Terrier so if I'm having difficulty with the greyhound I can just forget about Daisy the TFT. I do know one thing, they can't be separated and I can't live without them. It would be like someone telling them to get rid of their children. Just not going to happen. Beth S. Guest guest
Beth, I live in Oklahoma, the other side of the world from you. I have a friend who works in Philadelphia and is an animal lover and has friends in cat rescue. I’ll email her and see if she can be of any help. I have 7 cats and one dog and know exactly how you feel. I love each and every one of them and couldn’t live without them. They are such a part of my life. Especially in your time of healing, you NEED them, they are comfort, joy and love when it seems you have very little of these things. Kenda Kenda, I live in Philadelphia. Guest guest
Kenda, Funny you should use that phrase. My life has been like a bad movie. One problem after another. As for these people, I'm just not sure how they sleep at night. I think that it is the Philadelphia area. I was born in Pittsburgh and when I go back to visit my relatives the people are so completely different it throws me for a loop!
