Guest guest
Hi Janette, Hedley recommends that you use sage as a base herb for a smoking mix because it burns well, you can then add others for taste and relaxant properties. These could include standard nervines, scullcap, passiflora (flowering tops), humulus lupus (flowers), wild lettuce, catnip-you could also add peppermint or spearmint for a " cooler " smoke. also suggests that the mix is cured with Honey (or Molasses if the patient is vegan)- as smoking dried herbs can be harsh on the throat. Take 1part honey to 4 parts water and moisten the mix, rubbing together well, then lay out in a shallow dish and allow to dry naturally-(Usually 1week -10days). Hope this helps BSc (Hons) Smoking Mixtures > Hi > > Any one out there like to share some good, safe therapeutic smoking mixtures. Benefit: to deeply relax. they are to be used by anxious patients who have given up smoking nicotine/spliffs. They want a smoke instead of tincture drops (which they are on already). I was not that impressed with the smikoing formula listed in Bartrum. > > Many thanks > > Janette (Birmingham) > > >

Guest guest
Have you seen Howie Brounstein's Herbal Smoking Mixtures booklet at http://home.teleport.com/~howieb/smoking/smoke1.html ? An extremely interesting read even if you don't go on to experiment with his mixes! Robyn
Guest guest
Hi Dalbinder Thanks for calling me a lady! and thanks for remembering that my dissertation was on herbal medicine for treating the nicotine withdrawal syndrome. Janette - if you want to contact me off list my email is desshelley@.... - smoking dried herbs does not help the individual overcome the hand to mouth habit and although they are not taking in nicotine they are also not receiving the support for smoking cessation that herbal medicine can give them. Just for interest, I have started a smoking cessation clinic at Napiers in Cambridge for those who wanted to give up smoking in the New Year. There has been a lot of interest with some having stopped for new year but are now wanting a bit of extra help.
