Dear Toni, Thank you for the names of your children. I will hold them in my heart during my meditation as I also do my mother and sister. They also suffer from chronic pain as the result of severe degenerative arthritis. My sister also has rheumatoid arthritis and has been in constant pain for years. She has it in her spine, her hips and now she needs a knee replacement. I don't know how she or anyone with chronic pain manages. Also, I agree with Rob, have a good cry, it releases tension and some studies show it releases endorphins. Crying, honoring our sadness and pain by just being present with it and letting it move through us, is a healthy and natural process. If we push it away or dam it up we end up blocking our emotional energy for all feelings, joyful ones as well. Learning to honor and accept our emotions is one of the things that I focus on in my work as a therapist. There's lots of interesting research happening nowadays on emotional intelligence ( Goleman) and the neurobiological research of Candace Pert. Anyway, I find that it's a lot easier to cry when we hurt than to deal with the psychic mess we make by pushing it underground. Much love to you. Guest guest
Dear Toni: I meet regularly with a small prayer group using the Pipe Ceremony to honour our Mother, the earth and all beings. Native spirituality offers some comfort and I shall put you and your family into the Pipe on Monday night. Guest guest
Dearest Toni, I just have a quick response to this: > > Heroic, I am not. trying not to worry or cry is hard enough. > > Thanks, Toni Crying is probably more productive than trying not to cry. Those of us who have built up our intelectual defences agianst any form of suffering have, in my inexperience, also defended ourselves against living at the depth which we are capable. Tears, my friend, are a healing poison and will not harm anyone. Yours, Rob..nobody's hero
Guest guest
How sad for you, Toni. I, too, shall add my tiny flame to that fire of prayer. Was told once by an old Sioux Indian, when trying to hold up and be a man at the age of six, the following quiet words: Cryin's good fer ye. Washes out th' eyes, cleanses th' cheeks, an' purges the soul. Never forgotten it. m

Your comment with regards to " the blocking of feelings including the joyful ones " is RIGHT ON Suzanne! Guest guest
A patient of mine had a dream with the number 77,999 repeated several times -- can anyone help with the significance of tose numbers (she is in a process of relationship change and cosiderable inner growth, and is considering taking on a particular spiritual discipline that seems a good fit for her). Guest guest
I am also having the same shooting stabbing numbness pains in my legs. From what I have read it can be fibro, or a nerve thing. My GP sent me to a Neurologist and he is doing a EMG test (nerve test) on my legs Monday to rule out other things. If that is fine, then we will consider it part of my fibro and try to find a med that helps it. Patti > > I really need help on this problem> I have been dealing with this crap to long and no real results. I have recently depvelope more pain and it can be pretty chronic. feet, calves, wrists/thumb area. Serious fatigue my spine is again getting that agitated feeling I just dont know what to do. I also when I use the massager on my feet and legs have a tingling feeling run thru to my toes. The pain is constant with some shooting stabing going on as well. > Is anyone else having the same type of symtoms?? any help out there.... > Deb >
