Guest guest
That's true check your hospitals. On another note it was 11:30 PM and I just sent my 4th of 5 pumps out the door with a mom who called me on her way home from hospital. She was discharged but baby still in NICU. Most of the hospitals around here are AMEDA and that is what I rent. It is really a good service to provide though sometimes I feel like it is an expensive hobby. ;-) Lou Moramarco IBCLC Birth, Breastfeeding & Before International Board Certified Lactation Consultant Bradley Childbirth Educator Certified Birth Doula marylou22@... www.lunadoula.com Advisory Notice: Email is covered by the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, Title 18, Sections 2510-2521 of the United States Code and is legally privileged. I would only contract for Ameda pumps if there are hospitals in your area who have Ameda pumps on the floor for their mothers to use. Mothers want the brand they see in their hospital. They often got a kit for that pump while they were in-patients, and they tend to think if the hospital has that brand, then that brand must be best. If no hospital in your area has it, don't spend money on those pumps. It was a mistake I made years ago, and I lost a lot of money. Sent them all back after paying a full year's rent on all of them, and never made a single penny on them. Dee Kassing Call AMEDA They don't have those kind of restrictions. Lou Moramarco IBCLC From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Virginia LactationSubject: deciding whether or not to rent pumps and provide supplies Hello all, I am an IBCLC just starting out in private practice, and am trying to decide whether or not to rent pumps and provide supplies. I will not have an office and will only be seeing people on home visits. It seemed at first like it would be a good idea, because then that way, if a mom needs a pump or some kind of supplies, I can easily supply that for her. However, I have been in touch with the larger pump company, and you now have to have a minimum order of $3000 and 15 different product SKU numbers. You have to provide pictures of your "storefront" even if you don't have a physical store. I have been trying to get information for a few weeks now, and I am being told something different by everyone at the company that I talk to. Can anyone share on why they do or do not rent pumps, and maybe who you work with? Thanks so much for any guidance! Guest guest
I carry Hygeia rentals only. The hospitals carry Medela which I will not carry 1) because they are too expensive to open an account with and 2) because they are not WHO compliant. Sometimes I have all my rentals out and sometimes (like today) they are all sitting on my shelf. Hospital support is the key to success in rentals, IMO. Guest guest
Hygeia is a hopeless company with faulty pumps and pitiful customer service, in particular who seems to wear many hats, none of which fit! Guest guest
Hello to all! I rent Medela products mostly as a service to our small community because our local hospital uses Medela products. When a mom wants to rent a pump from me, she usually has the Medela Lactina kit from the hospital already and won't have the added expense of purchasing. What I am not happy about is Medela recently raised the minimum order amount from $100 to $500 starting Aug.1 . This makes things quite difficult for the small business. With that being said. I am placing an order July 23. If any of you ladies would like to order something please contact me off list at @... Sometimes their case quantities are ridiculously high. This way it will be easier for all of us. Thanks!
