Guest guest
Biever (biever@...) on an interfaith list I am on pulled this from the EWTN web site news section: Regular Church Attendance Good For Your Health - According to the International Journal of Psychiatry in Medicine, Duke University researchers have found that people 60 or over who faithfully participated in religious activities were 40 percent less likely to have high blood pressure. The study group of 4,000 North Carolinians who attend church weekly and read the Bible or pray regularly had lower diastolic pressure than those who are less religious. This study was taken between 1986 and 1994. Several studies have shown that religious people are less depressed, have healthier immune systems and deal better with addictions. Guest guest
I think that only applies if the people at church like you. I honestly don't think " religious " people are better off, I think it " spiritual " people. ºº ºº ¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥¥ Sucess is not relative to others. Guest guest
, I agree with you about " spiritual " people being better off. But if you take a survey of those who do attend church you are most likely to find a large number of those to be " spiritual " . I've seen too many non-spiritual, bitter, angry, etc., folks attending church on a regular basis with seemingly no spiritual response toward God, their own situations, or others. I think if there was some way to further delineate the survey to include some defining was to separate the " spiritual " from those who are not spiritual but are attending church, that the figures would be different. I'm spiritual, I am also a retired minister, but I'm not in church every time the doors are opened. Sometimes I even skip a Sunday or two, or three, or four. My allegiance is to God first, family and others second, and the church third. Therefore if there is a conflict between the last and the former, the former will always win out.
