Guest guest
Hi, this is something interesting that a friend of mine sent me regarding testosterone. It is an excerpt from Men’s Health: There are many other " win some, lose some " ramifications of high-normal testosterone. Mayo Clinic researchers recently reported that elevated levels appear to weaken a man's immune function, most likely by impairing the action of his white blood cells. On the plus side, the Mayo researchers speculate, this may explain why men are less prone to autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis, than are women. Perhaps a reason why more men don’t get autoimmune diseases as frequently. I wonder if many women are low in testosterone? I know I was when my hormones were out of whack, I had nearly none! DHEA is converted into testosterone when things are working properly. I had no DHEA either. Dr. Leu didn’t want to put me on testosterone because of the possible side effects to women — I really don’t want to shave. Taking DHEA put both testosterone and DHEA in balance again quickly. Something to think about when getting female hormone tests. Kenda
Guest guest
--- Hi Marie, I have no idea what has caused it. All I know is that I finally decided to tell my GP doctor about it and she said that since I have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, that it may be lupus. My GP doctor said that my symptoms of hair loss and eyelash loss is a common symptom of Lupus. So, for now I have to wait until my appointment with the rheumy doctor in 3 weeks and see what the additional blood test results are. I'm just tired of not knowing the cause and treatment. I don't want to take the incorrect medication for extended periods of time and then find out that it was the wrong diagnosis and treatment program. Thanks for the input. Les > > <<I also have lost most of my eyelashes and what's left are short and stubby.>> > > I apparently missed the earlier emails- I did happen to catch your mention of losing eyelashes. I am experiencing the same thing. Though I have never had nice thick eyelashes anyway, it was nice to have SOME. > > What did you think was the cause of this? Mine started falling out and breaking off when I began the depo medrol injections... > > ~Marie >
