Guest guest
<< I've just had a bone-scan and found there are multiple skeletal metastases - i.e. many bone cancers. So I'm hoping anyone who wants to can send me a prayer or some light. >> Judy, So very sorry to hear of your news. It must be very frightening for you. And indeed my prayers are with you. My prayers are also with other friends who have recently discovered a cancer has invaded. I don't know if the incidence of cancer are rising more rapidly or if detection is getting better, or if is simply my awareness has increased. But clearly, the amount of cancer is increasing. And I pray that it is possible for you to beat this thing inside you now. I would hope some of our recent discussions here may be meaningful to you now. I especially commend to you some of the recent posts by Gene and Beatrix, who has great insight and wisdom into the " meaning " of unjust suffering in our world. They have certainly enlightened me on this often confusing subject. But no words or intellectual exercise can comfort one who has received such news. I can only offer love and concern from a fellow traveler who has luckily managed to dodge some health bullets so far. Having said that, I know as we all do, that my life will end one day. Only the how and the when are a mystery. So we are constantly challenged to spend each day as if it were our last. Because each one is, indeed, precious and never to come again. Our health, and life itself, is so completely random in so many ways. I, like the others who have spoken so eloquently on the subject, refuse to believe that it is a result of God's actions or will, (just or unjust). Our egos would prefer to be able to find causal meaning. But in the end, we never know and the energy we use trying to figure that one out, which could have been better spent, is lost to no result. But our response to such tragedy or hardship can lead us to the divine - in ourselves and in others. I applaud you for recognizing your pain, for crying out, for sharing your grief/fear with us here, and for allowing us to share it with you. And I hope you will do it freely among those you love most, without preferring to " spare them. " You may find that by letting them share this with you, you will indeed see the human face of God in new and amazing ways. God bless, Greg
