Hi,

Looks like I will be burning the midnight oil again, so as the phone

companies say I thought I would 'reach out and touch someone'. I have

decided to talk to my GP on my next visit about increasing the dose of

Elavil (20mg) I'm on or switching me to something else.

It is pain that has me up at the moment as the rats have decided to have

another feeding orgy. The rats being my pancreatic enzymes digesting my

pancreas, it literally feels like you are being eaten alive. Still no word

as to whether the morphine patch will be approved by Pharmacare so that they

will pay 80% of the drug cost.

Tomorrow a friend is picking me up and we're off to the Mall. It will be 4

wks on Thursday since my bladder surgery and I'm not allowed to resume

driving yet. Because of my medical problems I am a very slow healer and

neither one of my incisions has closed yet. Last week I had an abdominal

hematoma burst and the blood came out between the stitches. On the up side

though I am now disconnected from my IV pole and allowed to use my portable

pump which goes in a backpack, and make my bed. :o)

The reason we are off to the Mall is Zellers has a wool sale on so I want to

pick some up for Christmas projects that I'm working on. I'm doing a theme

oriented child size afghan for the 4 grandchildren, ie: 4yrs is

getting Noah's Ark. Also doing a fisherman knit jacket with hood for each

of them. It gives me something to do while I sit in front of the boob tube.

Keeps me from climbing the walls from sheer boredom, you can only watch sooo

many talk shows.

The weather here is beautiful and I would love to be on the ocean kayaking

with the mountains in the background, I figure I will get the green like for

that in August. A friend that I kayak with (my husband isn't into it) has

offered to take me out in a double kayak once she starts her vacation in

another week, I will be able to lean back and enjoy the ride. What do some

of you do for enjoyment? At one time I cross country skied, hiked, kayaked

and golfed (for fun...lousy at it); Walking is all I do now, in town, I no

longer can hike the mountain trails.

Pump alarm has just sounded - low battery - so I'll close and switch pumps,

then hit the bed once more. Take care! Many everyone have a very nice day.

Margaret,

What do I do to pass the time? I garden. Over the past year or so I have

been converting large spaces of our lawn into perennial borders, growing

most of the plants I use from seed on a covered back porch. I love working

in the garden...I hate mowing the lawn. As time goes on, perhaps I won't

have to mow more than a few patches of grass. I still use a walk

behind/self propelled mower because I need the exercise even though lower

back, hip, knee, foot pain keep me from doing more than about an hour at a

time. It takes 3-4 hours for me to mow and trim the entire lawn. I'd

rather spend that time working with my plants.

Like you I spend a lot of time on the internet with this group and with

another support group for folks with Reiters Syndrome. It helps.

I read a lot...science fiction, alternative history, political novels,

gardening stuff.

I write a little...science fiction short stories, church growth training

materials. I'm waiting for the inspiration for the great American novel.

I hope you get some rest tonight.
