HI Beverley and welcome to a great group. I suffered from nasal polyps for several years before giving up and having them removed. Boy what a difference!! I know that the surgery and recovery is terrible and painful but since then I've had better control of my asthma and allergies. And after a number of years, I can once again smell!!

Depression makes asthma worse in my opinion. As does stress. But then fighting to breath can make anyone very tired and depressed. Do I sound like it is a circle? Well that is how it feels sometimes. Keep searching and I'm sure you will find some solutions that will help get you on a better road.

Hi Beverly,

Your story sounds quite similar to mine in that my depression (dysthymia - long term, low grade depression) began at age five but was undiagnosed until I had two episodes of major depression in late teens/early twenties. In addition to asthma, which is a new thing for me, I have suffered from psoriaris, allergies, and several food sentivities for most of my life. I use a lot of alternative/nutritional methods for these conditions as well as my asthma. From my experieces and my studies I believe there is a huge correlation between these things and depression. For example, my severe allergies never began until my first episode of major depression.

During those periods of time when my conditions are flaring up (usually because i am under stress or not eating well) i notice that some of the old feelings that depression brings start to try and come back. I am very aware of it and am able to head it off at the pass so to speak. Since being diagnosed with asthma I have been having to struggle even harder to keep that monster at bay.

I know its hard but just hang in there.

Sharon,

Someone once said to me, that Asthma ws tears cried inside.

Asthma is always a mix of allergens, and emotions,, they change and

shift , but do influence each other.

Hi, Beverley

I have salicylate sensitivity, too. I don't know of any direct connection

between asthma and depression, although chronic medical conditions can lead

to depression. The reason isn't a medical relationship. Constant worrying,

dealing with the debilitating effects of the disease, etc. lead to

depression.

depression and allergy/asthma

Hi all,

I'm new to this group.

I'm asthmatic, with salicylate problems, nasal polyps and a bad case of

recurring depression. Troubles started during late teens, although the

disease was present, but undiagnosed in childhood.

I'm fed up with this debilitating depression and since it really kicked

into my life at around the same time asthma did (19 years of age) I'm

wondering if there are any connections.

I'm searching the net and my immunologist is searching for info too, but

I'd like to hear from any one else with

asthma/allergies/sensitivities/intolerances and depression. I may even put

up a website on the subject!

regards

Beverley

I have been reading in the group and felt I should share some new science with

everyone. My son was born with asthma. I was introduced to this new science by

a

friend of mine from work. My son has been taking glyconutrient for 7 months now

and he has not had an attack for some time now. My doctor didn't know anything

about this new science when I asked him about it. I did some research on my own

on the internet and found an overwelming amount of information on it. This

stuff

works on just about any health problems a person could have from what I have

seen

and heard. I was so impressed that I decided to join the company and do my part

to

tell the world about this stuff. Everyone needs to be aware of what is going on

with

this technology. If you know anyone with any type of health problems I would

suggest going to http://GlycoScience.com and do a search on the the health

problem in question to see what implications this technology is having in that

area.

This is not a sales site. This is a third party scientific research site. I

will be glad to

try to answer any questions you have. This is not to replace a doctor's advice.

It is

classified as a food by the FDA. It is not a cure for anything but it gives

your body

what it need to heal itself.

Seems a number of us have no thyroid or a very inactive one. I take simple synthroid and it has proven for me to be the best. In the past I was on several other meds (can't remember what they were) and they just kept my asthma on edge. The proper dose of synthroid now helps my energy, weight, and doesn't hinder my asthma treatments.

Well I don't know anything about Thyroxin. Depression may be a side effect.
