Guest guest
Dear Jung-Fire friends, Such a sharing of bared to the bones inspired ingredients, for a collective soul soup, I have never imagined savoring of late. A wonderful meal fit for the Divine Child in us all, I think. (Taste, taste, smack, smack, H'mm could use a little Okra, eh, Merry?) Carroll, asked me what the significance of the town of Chapel Hill, N.C. meant to me in my dream. This is probably the key to understanding it in all of its various levels of meaning. Chapel Hill is the home of the first State chartered university in America, sanctioned in 1789, with its foundation stone being laid in 1793 in a building still used known as Old East. This attraction in still a wilderness of the New World, is probably what prompted my Mother's ancestors, including a prominent ship's Captain named to sail from Liverpool, England with family in tow to settle there originally. I don't have the exact date from her records yet. So it is part of my ancestral heritage, and has a deep spiritual effect on me when I go there. Including the first time I went there at age 19, before I was aware of this fact. My mother lives in western Tennessee and has herself never been there yet, but that may soon change in the near future, if I can help her fulfill her dream of retiring there. The relevance of the building itself in the dream is a different matter altogether. Although UNC has a very good medical branch with five different fields of training, it is not as reknown as its neighbor in Durham called Duke University. Nor is it reknown for its Veternarian school, and animal husbandry curriculum, as NCSU in Raleigh where I live either. These three towns form what is called the Triangle, making it a very strategic location for international studies, focal cultural meetings, and business commerce. None of these aspects in itself describe the Mortuary aspect of the dream, yet it connects to my own circumstances in a unique way here in my present location. As I mentioned in my stories of yesteryear that included a plug or two concerning Chapel Hill, the place where I live was developed by a wealthy landowner who was in love with the n era Christmas classic of Dickens, " A Christmas Carol " . and I live on Dickens St. In that case, the three metamorphing aspects of my dream may have a counterpart in Dicken's description of ol Scrooge's visitation by three ghosts, ie facilities, representing, past, present and future. I suppose that part of the dream where I was hogging the " Water fountain " may prompt that impression of myself in retrospect. But then don't we all harbor such selfish motives and impulses from time to time. I regard mine as mostly a matter of self preservation, as there is really no one else looking after my personal interests at the moment, excluding friends and work related business dealings which only count to a certain degree. So perhaps that is the mask you are referring to Carroll, when I say I literally have to live by my Wits! On the day that I had this dream, I was shopping for my son to locate an item I had seen the week before at that Flea Market, but it was gone. That's when I noticed and wound up purchasing that one of a kind painting for my home instead, " The Cheetah " . It is ironic and somewhat disturbing to me that most of the animals I identify with are now on the endangered species list, all except the Mutt that is! I don't really like this at all to tell the truth, and if I had my way, everyone directly responsible for this endangerment would be on that list too! For that reason I heartily applaud those who literally risked their lives at the WTO to make this a better world to live in for all of God's creatures, and who try to make a difference everyday in restoring a more natural order to their and our own lives as well, putting Nature above modern conveniences and creature comforts that are destroying the elements of Nature that no longer interact with humans because of this destruction. Such is the fine line that we face in the Future as a civilization, as our technology continues to try to overturn this natural order, perhaps permanently. In that case, a Large Mortuary facility might yet become a thriving and prominent vocation than it is currently. I guess you might call this Christmas-Carroll, " Grim Humor " .
